I^m looking for relatives to Bengta Björk, emigrated from Sweden to Chicago in the late 1800. Also lokking for relitves from two ladies with the name Nelly. Nelly 1, born Nilsson / Mårtensson and Nelly 2, born Andersson (?). Maybee they also went to Chicago. I know there is relatives, but where?

Nelly nr 1 is probably born in 1894 Balsby, Sweden.
Nelly nr 2, I have less information, probably born in the let 1800 in Nymö/Fjälkinge, Sweden.
Bengta was their mothers sister. Born Svensdotter/Björk 1873-08-08.
The information is that they went together but I don´t know when.

Trodde att Nelly åkte samtidigt. Elna Jonsdotter är nog inte släkt, men hon kanske tog hand om Bengta som var ganska ung vid överfarten-

I´m sorry, it\s rather confusing about Nelly, though they were two Nelly\s.  They were cousins an both emigrated to America.
 
Nelly; daughter of Anna and Måns Nilsson, born 1896-08-09 in Trolle Ljungby. Her husbands name was probably Nels but I hav no other knowledge.
 
Then there is her cousin Nelly, daughter of Nils Mårtenson and his wife Karna born Svensdotter/Björk.
This Nelly was born 1894-09-12. In the notice of her father Nils death is written Nelly och Hjalmar
 
Then there is both Nellys sister of their mothers; Bengta born Svensdotter (Björk). Se emigrated 1891-09-25 from Balsby and 1891-09-30 from Malmö to Chicago. Both Nellys has probably left later though someone sad that Bengta should take care of Nelly x 2. I dont´t know anything more about Bengta and what became of her. Both Nelly\s have visited Sweden several years ago. That was about 1950 and then we didn\t heard of anyone.

I don't know why you prefer to ask in English, it would be better and much more clear if you did it in Swedish, but here you  are, some on Nellie and her family.  
 
I found a Nellie Mortenson and a Hjalmar Lund having a child in Chicago, Cook County, on July 13, 1922. His name was Roy Hjalmer Lund.  
 
A Nellie Lund b. 12 sept 1894 dies in California in may 1963. Her ssn is from Illinois (321-16-5092) so it is pretty clear that the second Nelly was the one who married a Hjalmar Lund. There are however several Nellie born on April 15, 1894 that could be the one you're looking for. It is rather confusing so if you can clear out some more on dates and places then maybe we'll find the 'other' Nelly as well? /Susanna

Då jag händelsevis en gång fick syn på sökningar efter andra anfäder så tänkte jag att samma skulle kunna ske over there, och att det i så fall skulle vara bättre att skriva på engelska.
Svenska inlägg ska kanske inte göras under Discussions in English ? Hur som helst skriver jag här och nu att det är ganska svårt att få klarhet i Nelly:arna. Jag vet att de fanns för jag har foton på dem, då de båda gästat Sverige efter sin utvandring. I guess it is so let's continue this way...I'm 'over here' so it's OK. As you could see from above, the Nelly who married Hjalmar Lund was the cousin Nelly. I will try and find your first Nelly too but thought it would be fun for you to know some more about this cousin Nelly and her family with Hjalmar.  
 
I found Nellie and Elmer' (common americanization of Hjalmar) in the 1930 in Chicago. They have another child, Everett A Lund, 3 years old, and Roy H Lund, 7.  
Elmer is around 41 years old, Nellie 35. They own their home on 5948 Cortland, 2nd floor, and it's valued at $5.600. Elmer works in construction (building and he came to the US in 1909. The youngest child is exactly 3 yrs old, so he's either born in late March or early April, as this census is taken on April 2nd. They also have a cousin of Elmer, Edward Nielson, living in the house and a boarder, Olof Johnson. According to this census they were married at age 31 resp. 25. So they have been married since 1920.  
 
I searched for Everett and found him in the ssdi as Evert (makes sense);

So it also makes sense now that his mother Nellie died in California.  
I also found Nellie Lund coming back from a trip to Sweden with Gripsholm on June 14 in 1948. It sure seems like it's her. Her address is 1458 Florence Ave, Evanston, IL. It also looks like Roy H Lund could still be alive, can't find a good match in the SSDI. And it seems he married a Esther Ramsey in Cook County, IL, in 1953.  
 
That is all for now. I will look for more on the other Nelly and hopefully we'll find her soon.

Might be of interest. A Hjalmar Lund, born March 18, 1889 in Varberg, is drafted for WW 1 in Chicago. He is single.
When drafted for WW2 he gives the same information about his birth. He lives with his wife Nellie on 4657 Belleplane Ave in Chicago

I guess he changed his name, cause no Hjalmar Lund found in Varberg.  But Hjalmar Johansson, born March 10, 1889, in Istorp emigrates 1909. Can that be Nellie's husband? Need to dig a little bit more

I saw those WW drafts too and it's surely him, and I also think it can be the Hjalmar Johansson from Istorp.
 
There seem to be living relatives of Evert, his wife might be alive, and I have found two matches for possible children. I have an address for his wife, so if Helen is interested I'll give it to her. It is nothing I like to post here.  
 
Regarding the other Nelly, it is a bit confusing with the date of birth, but I'm currently looking for the one born in 1896, and born in Trolle Ljungby. However it is not clear what her last name may have been (Nilsson?) and where she left from, and also around what time. I will look for a Nellie #2 born in 1896 with a husband called Nils/Nels. These girls were obviously cousins, their mother's were sisters, so they probably stayed close to each other, or one would think so at least. But so far no good match for Nelly #2.

I have heard now that Hjalmar was born Johansson/Johnsson and that he might been born in Lund/skåne. His name changed when he came over to USA and he got the name Lund because he was born in or near the town Lund.
I had contact with the relatives and this is what they know/heard. I searched for Hjalmar in DDSS and there is several but I still can´t pick the correct person. Can´t be sure about his birth year but his wife Nellie was born 1894 and the got their first child 1923.

Nu vet jag mer. Bengta Björk blev Bettie Simpson; gift med Andrew Simpson. Tror att det bodde i Evanston Chicago. De ska ha fått tre barn; Helen f. ca 1902, andra barn: Ann och tredje barn: Evelyn.
Känner att jag måste göra ett försök till att komma fram till idag med den släkten, om det är möjligt...

I census 1920 så Bor det en Betty Simpson i Evanston. Hon är gift med Andrew Simpson 47 som också är född i Sverige och har barnen Anna Simpson 22, Evelyn Simpson 21 och Helen Simpson 18. Alla tre barnen är födda i Illinois  
 
Där bor de i census 1910 också  
 
I census 1930 så är det bara Andrew och Betty som bor där.

Hej. Genom avlägsen släkt har jag fått uppgifterna att Anna Simpson (Ann) gifte sig med Georg Bastian och att de bodde  i Evanston IL 1930. Evelyn ska ha gift sig med Charles L Hobin, bosatta i Cook county IL 1930. Helen gifte sig med Charles W Graves och bodde 1930 i LA CA. Har försökt på alla sätt att söka vidare kring familjerna men når ingenstans. Är det någon som kan hjälpa mig med mer uppgifter?
