The birthdate is slightly different but could this be your Carl August Hellman? He was a carpenter. (snickare)

Note that Motola is really spelled Motala.

Dear Judy,
I'm sure this is the correct Carl August Hellman.  Not sure which date is correct, but I will refer to my notes and documents.

Anything you can tell me about him or his family? Or about the Hellman name? Or any records of birth, migration, marriage of him or any family members (father, mother, G father, G mother, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, or mothers relatives?  Anything would be greatly appreciated and Thank You for giving me the prior info.

Thank You in advance.
Kathy

Kathy,

Motala verkstad (Motala Mechanical Workshop) was a large company by Swedish standards. In 1875 it employed over 1,200 workmen. According to a circa 1880 book (Rosenberg's geographical encyclopedia), the goods produced included steam- and sail ships, machinery, locomotives and other steam engines. The companyhad dwellings for the workmen - your ancestor lived there, as this is the address he's moving out from in the extract Judy posted.

You mentioned in your info above that they were born in the parishes Varv (later Varv & Styra) and Västra Ny. Both parishes are in Östergötland county, near Motala. It's great that you already know where they were born, as that means you can start researching in the right parishes at once.

I suggest you post your questions about these people in the parish discussions for Varv och Styra and Västra Ny respectively. The parish discussions are often followed by people with a special interest in these parishes; i.e. you have the best chance to get help there. They're in the Swedish part of the forum, but posting in English is fine!

Dear Anna,
Thank you for the info. on my G grandfathers employer and that he lived there.  I love finding out all of these pieces of info. Also, thank you for the info. on the parishes.  I did post my questions on both of them so now I will wait and see if I get a response.  Hopefully it is in English.

Thank You,
Kathy

Motala Verkstad is still there, but heavily reduced. Parts of it is a museum. This page (in Swedish) has 10 000 pictures from the company, they will give you some idea about life there:
