I am trying to find which ship my grandfather traveled on and which port he landed at when he emigrated to the United States. I have found a record of him in Emilhamn through ancestry.com.

name: Ernst Wernelius
birth year:  About 1881 [He was actually born in 1882]
place of origin: Grebo Östergotland
destination: Brainerd Minnesota
record date: 5 march 1902
port of departure: Göteborg
data base: Emilhamn
archive call number: 69.185.11182

Any information would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you

Patricia
I found the following on Ancestry.com.

Boston Passenger Lists, 1820-1943
about Ernst Wernclie
Name: Ernst Wernclie
Arrival Date: Mar 1902
Age: 21 years
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1881
Gender: Male
Port of Departure: Liverpool, England
Ship Name: Merion
Port of Arrival: Boston, Massachusetts
Last Residence: Sweden
Microfilm Roll Number: 49

I found him on the line over Hugo J Larsson from Grebo who left Gothenburg the same day as Ernst, and with Brainerd as destination

He was on the SS Merion, sailing from Liverpool, England on 8 Mar 1902 to Boston.  The exact date of arrival is not written on the ship manifest (at least the 3 pages I looked at).  In the index at Ancestry.com his last name is mispelled as Wernclie but it is clearly Wernelius on the original document.  He is traveling with Hugo J. Larson, 21 years old, and their destination is Hugo's brother Gust. Larson in Brainerd.

Thanks to both of you, Mats and Carl. I had checked Ancestry.com, but obviously I am not as good at it as you! I really appreciate having this information which has been lost to our family. Ernst did have some Larsson cousins so perhaps he was travelling with one of them. I am excited to have this information and now I must share this with my family!  Thank you again.
