My grandfather Johan (John?) Oscar Olsson, born 1876 08 05 in Gothenburg, Sweden, emigrated to USA 1908 02 01 and did not return.
He arrived in New York 1908 04 29 with the ship Campania. Port of departure was Liverpool, England. His uncle Johan Alfred Olsson (or Olofsson, or Johansson) born 1855 11 10 in Hjärtum, Sweden, now living in Zimmerman, Minnesota, met him.
My grandfather was married in Sweden and had four sons. His wife divorsed him in 1921 and there is a paper signed in Rockford, Ill. USA 1920 02 07 by the notarius publicus. Name unreadable.
The latest adress we know of for my grandfather is fom 1937: 852 W Buckingham Pl, Chicago, Il. 60657. Johan Oscar then seemed to have been some kind of entertainer using the pseudonym David Ellison.
There was an advertisment in a swedish newspaper some timme between 1947-1950 asking for relatives to a deseased person with the same name and birthday as my grandfather but his sons did not answer it.
I have tried many sources to find out when and where my grandfather died, if he remarried and got more children but have not succeeded to find out more than I have described above. I would be very happy if someone could help me to find out more about my grandfather.
My best wishes from Sweden
Boel olsson

Perhaps his divorce papers can be found. Contact the Cook County Archives.

They have divorce records among their holdings. They apparently have an index.

My Swedish is not especially great but I can probably understand some of what you write. However, I'm having cataract surgery tomorrow so I don't know when I'll be back online.

I'm sure the operation will go well, Judy, but don't strain your eye with peering at a computer screen for some time! Several relatives and close friends of mine have done so, and have paid with a prolonged convalescence, pain, dryness and redness in the operated eye. Not worth it! Do take care!

Best of luck!
