In the later part of 1700 sailed Lord Nelson (probably with the ship Albermarle) in Danish and Swedish waters. According to rumors deserted several men from the ship. One of them settled in Hov, on Bjärehalvön near Bastad in northwest Skåne. He stated that his familyname was Nelson. (which is difficult to verify) He took the more Swedish-sounding name Bostrom, got married and had children.
A son, Nils (Boström?) was born 22/9 1825 in Hov. Either it was his brothers or his sons, who later returned to England. Their name is still Boström if rumor telling the truth. There are many questions surrounding this family, but one thing is clear: they spoke English in both Nils and his sons home. It was the first language so ancestor was obviously an englishman. Rumor has it that he was probably illegitimate son of Lord Nelson but rumors say much. Maybe he just called himself Nelson when he came from his ship?
Are there lists of crew members on Albermarle and who or which possibly deserted it might be helpful. Or, there are now living Bostrom's who has more information about the family.
I try to help my friend who is the grandsons grand-granddaughter of the English deserter
