Gustaf Adolf Lago born 29 November 1883 in Vrigstad parish
parents: Karl August Lago born 25 June 1847 in Vrigstad & Matilda Helena Jonasdotter, born 27 January 1846 in Hylletofta parish, married on 30 April 1870 (source the clerical surveys (“husförhörslängd”) for Vrigstad).
He emigrates 29 August 1903 from Vrigstad, according to EMIBAS-Jönköping County (a local database) and the CD Emigranten, ticket for Essex, Iowa. Traveling from the port of Göteborg on 14 September 1903 with his sister Anna Lovisa Lago, at the time living in Göteborg, her ticket is for New York.
The family lives in a soldier's croft called ”Alebäcken” in the village Horveryd, from 1871 when I started looking for them in the clerical surveys until they end in 1896, but also in 1900 and 1910 when the extracts from the clerical surveys (or their successor, the ”parish book” - församlingsbok - are done). In the extract from 1920 the family is no longer living at that croft.
Siblings (all dates are from the clerical surveys, a secondary source):
s. Axel Edvard (uses last name Carlsson in 1889) born 18 April 1871; leaves the parish in 1889 when he moves to Nydala parish with his wife (I didn't note her name).
d. Hulda Charlotta (uses last name Lago in 1898 when son is born), born 21 September 1873
d. Anna Lovisa (uses the name Lago when she emigrates in 1903) born 26 March 1876. She leaves Vrigstad for Svarttorp parish in 1895.
s. Carl Oscar born 26 October 1878, dies 10 November 1893 in Vrigstad.
d. Alfrida Matilda born 1 June 1881
d. Helga Emilia born 26 November 1886
d. Ottilia Maria (uses last name Lago when she emigrates in 1907) born 1 January 1890
d. Kalla (or Calla, spelling differs) Egonia born 14 October 1892
Hulda Charlotta Lago had a son, she was unmarried at the time so the son is “oäkta” ie born out of wedlock, father not named. The son's name is Gustaf Akvil or Gustaf Aqwil (both are first names) depending on the source, born 13 June 1898 in Lekeryd parish, who seems to live with his grandparents from a young age. I don't know his surname.
Ottilia Maria Lago emigrates to the US on 12 March 1907, living Göteborg on 22 March, with a ticket for New York, traveling alone.
Sonja Maria Hafström born 30 April 1900 (source SCB-extracts births 1898-1920) in Horveryd Östergård, Vrigstad
parents: Karl Oskar Hafström, born 16 March 1869 in Vrigstad parish, and Hulda Adolfina Svensson, born 21 January 1871 in Adelöv parish, married on 14 July 1893 (source: the clerical surveys for Vrigstad).
The family lives in Horveryd in 1893-1896 (clerical survey), in 1900 (extract) and 1905 (when Helge Valdemar is born) but in 1910 and 1920 they are living on a farm, probably closer to Vrigstad village/town, called Månsagård.
She emigrates on 19 September 1921 from Vrigstad, unmarried. Leaving Göteborg on 24 September with a ticket for New York.
Siblings (dates are from the clerical surveys and the so called SCB extracts births):
s. Karl Gunnar born 4 June 1894
s. Josef Einar born 16 February 1896
d. Margret Ingeborg 5 June 1898

None of the other Hafström or Lago siblings is found (as no names and birth parish are given in the period between 1950-1970, and the possible matches with only birth dates are too many).
Vrigstad parish still have its church records from the period from ca 1896 until today, so you can contact them to get the information that are not available on line, on cd or at the library. The e-mail is vrigstad.pastorat@svenskakyrkan.se . For further information back in time, either you can research the church records at a Family History Centre near you, or questions may be put and answered here (for the two fathers here under Vrigstad, and under Hylletofta and Adelöv respectively here under Småland/Socknar.
Kind regards,
Eva Dahlberg
