I am the grandson of David Stromberg, who was born in Sweden in Nov. 8, 1875 and died in Fairmont, Martin County Minnesota, USA in Nov. 16, 1958. His father was Svenning Stromberg and his mother was Sara Marie Jonsdotter Stromberg. David had many brother/sisters and half brothers / half sisters, many of whom moved to Martin County area in Minnesota.
My grandfather travelled to Sweden in the fall of 1950 by ship and took a wire recorder with him to record his relatives in Sweden. I have now converted the recordings to MP3s. The recordings are in Swedish. I used an online program called Sonix AI to get an English transcript which was 85% accurate or so. My step-aunt, Sylvia Anderson (David’s step daughter) continued writing the relatives in Sweden until the late 1980’s. My brother has the letters received in a box someplace.
The first names on the recordings are: Ivar who was 7 in 1950 and may still be alive (82). The Sisters Helga and Alma. There is a Bertil who remembers David’s trip to Sweden 1924. Also mentioned are Marta, Alma, Hilga. Birgitta also talks on the recording.
There are no last names on the recordings used. I would like to know who these people are.
I was wondering if you would be interested in copies of the recordings? I also have an 8-mm movie of David’s trip to Sweden with pictures of whoever got the farm.
