Hi
I am trying to read the writing for Johans father and mother. I think it says Isaac Elg and Annika Jonsdotter ..not sure if there are other relatives listed as witnesses. or what the rest of it means
Kristberg (E) C:4 (1716-1769) Image:262 Page:519

Thanks
Lance Isackson

Hi Lance!

Witnesses: Johan Larsson in Elgmyra (Älgmyra), dräng Anders Pärsson i Norkiärr, dräng Johan Andersson in Clemmesbol (Klämmesbol), wife Anna Andersdotter in Clemmesbol, pigan Annika Johansdotter ibm (the same place), pigan Maria N. in Clemmesbol.

The rider Isak Elg at Älgmyra married Annika Jonsdotter from Svartbäcken (close to Älgmyra) September 25th 1759 (C:3 Kristberg p 569). An estate inventory from Bobergs häradsrätt FII:2 p 279 1766. Annika died November 9th 1765 from childbirth. Two sons, Jonas 5 years old and Johan 3. The grandfather on the mothers side is named Jon Svanberg. Isak Elg married again in December 27th 1767 to Stina Persdotter in Älgmyra (the notice says Johan Elg, that is not correct), C:3 Kristberg p 573. In June 30 1768 Isak Elg and Stina Persdotter have a daugther Annika (C:4 Kristberg p  543) I have not searched for more children...Isak Elg is noted in the Central register of soldiers. Born 1737, listed 1759 and dead 1789. 2nd livgrenadjärregementet, Bergslags kompani (Överstelöjtnantens kompani). He cannot be found in deathbook for Kristberg this year, but he is still listed in 1785 as a soldier at Elgmyra. He probably died in Finland as there was a war againt Russia 1788-90.

Best regards

Britt-Marie

Thank you so much !!!
You helped me so much I would have not looked into the military books...

The term or name Elg or Älg seems to pop up often with this line of the family tree..
I assume that this name is their military name based on the town or area of Älgmyra...just the shortened form of that name?

Yes, it’s typical that the soldiers names were connected to the place where they lived. Älg meens moose in english. I passed by car a couple of days ago, Älgmyra and Klämmesbol going back to my hometown Motala after visiting the graveyard in Tjällmo parish.

Well with some digging I found Isak Elg between two wives had 13 children...died when he was about 50 leaving his poor 2nd wife with all these kids. War is a terrible thing.
Still trying to find out who his father was or if he had any brothers or sisters.

Thanks so much for your help
Lance

Ok
I need help on figuring out Isaak Elg’s. Birth
It looks like Sept 17 or 20 1738
I have looked all over and this is what I have found..
It seems he is a twin with Abraham
I just can’t figure out his parents in this listing
Thanks
Lance

Hi Lance!

I´m sorry to say that this is not the notice you are looking for...September 17th 1738 - Abraham and Isak. Hejderidarens tvenne barn i Måttan (C:4 Kristberg p 405). Hejderidare = forester/hunter on a horse. January 17th 1734 Eva Elisabeth was born at Måttan, her father was jägaren (hunter) Lambrecht (C:4 Kristberg p 380). His first name was Hans Caspar (born 1675 Germany and dead at Västra Ny parish 1754). Look at the picture from the "mantal" 1738.

I have a register with information from estate inventorys regarding Hällestad and Tjällmo tingslag. Isak Elg is mentioned as his brother, Johan Persson in Sätra, Hällestad parish died in Oct 25th 1785. F:6 p 1727, estate inventory, February 11th 1786. Johan Persson married to Elisabeth Andersdotter in November 06 1768 in Hällestad, Johan from Jogestorp in Hällestad and Elisabeth from Sätra 1768. You can find Johan Persson in AI:3 Hällestad, Sätra p 61 and AI:5 p 125. Johan Persson born 1744-07-16 according to the household record. No parish mentioned. I have looked at several parishes in the area, but I have not found him at this date yet. In AI:5 Sätra, there is also the boy Jonas Isaksson b 1759 (this I believe is the son of Isak Elg, born August 8 1760 at Älgmyra. Jonas later on becomes a soldier at Älgmyra just like his father. 1762 when one of Isak Elgs children were born, he was named Isak Persson.
