I am trying to track the life of Eric Anderson, but cannot find after the last household record listed below.  If I understand correctly, this record says he moved to Hedemora in 1844 but I cannot find him after that.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Greg Rosenvall

I found him in Hedemora (W) AI:16c (1840-1846) Bild 190 / sid 185 (AID: v130381.b190.s185, NAD: SE/ULA/10388). From there he moved 1845 to Västerlövsta (U) AI:15b (1845-1850) Bild 202 / sid 480 (AID: v74644.b202.s480, NAD: SE/ULA/11714), and from there back to Hedemora in 1846, and then he is found at page 162 in the same volume as above.

Thank you, Leif.  Very much appreciated.  A couple of questions:

1) what tool do you use, or how do you go about, finding someone like Eric Andersson in the records after Näbbgården?
2) is it possible to find out if Eric ever married and had a family?

Thank you again,
Greg

1) I used the "Index search" in ArkivDigital, very useful when you loose the track.
2) The last I find him is in Norns bruksförsamling (W) AI:6 (1850-1860) Bild 14 / sid 9 (AID: v131173.b14.s9, NAD: SE/ULA/11101), where he moves somewhere in 1853 I can't interpret. The note in Norns bruksförsamling (W) B:1 (1831-1894) Bild 21 (AID: v131180.b21, NAD: SE/ULA/11101) isn't easier to interpret, it might be Husby, but I don't find him in the move in records there.

I did find him in Husby (W) AI:16a (1851-1861) Bild 125 / sid 118 (AID: v130569.b125.s118, NAD: SE/ULA/10414). The note say "Gift (married) till p. 157 (151?) C?" which I don't understand.

Erik Andersson, b 1829 in Västanfors (U), married Johanna Sofia Nyström, b 1836 June 18 in Kloster, Husby parish. Date of marriage 1855 Sept 30 in Husby, they first lived in Kloster where he was a 'valsverksarbetare', at a rolling mill, the iron industry in Kloster. They moved to Garpenberg in 1857, but before that had two sons born in Kloster, Karl Erik b 1856 Feb 4 and Karl Johan b 1857 June 12. Erik took the name Bergström when he married. I have not followed them in Garpenberg, but 1867 they returned to Husby from By parish, now in Stjernsund, another iron producing industry in Husby, where Erik also worked at the rolling mill. They got three more children, Sofia Paulina b 1859 Sept 1, Erik August b 1860 Nov 16 and Johanna Josefina b 1863 Feb 1. Erik died 1881 March 12 from Eliphantiasis (poor man!). Johanna Sofia Nyström/Bergström died in Stjernsund 1903 Oct 3. I have not followed the children. This is mostly from my data base on people in Husby. I can give you sources if you need them. Greetings, Leif O

Very, very helpful and so appreciated!  I've said before that your help and this forum are wonderful resources.  Please know how much I appreciate.

Leif Olofsson: if you could send the references I would be most grateful.  I am going to try to look up on my own, but it would be great to have your backup as a check on my research.

Thank you all again,
Greg

They got three more children, Sofia Paulina b 1859 Sept 1, Erik August b 1860 Nov 16 and Johanna Josefina b 1863 Feb 1. Erik died 1881 March 12 from Elephantiasis (poor man!). Now I have completed my story about Erik Andersson Bergström and his family. Husby is my home parish, I grew up in Långshyttan. So I know this area very well. You should come and visit. The landscape is very beautiful and full of history!

Thank you so much, Leif!  This is so very informative and helpful!  I will go through each of these references and add to my log on Eric Andersson, a distant relative.  As I learn more and more about Sweden, I definitely want to visit someday as you suggest.  I hope that day comes sooner than later.

May I please ask another favor?  With my research and help from others on this forum, I have tried to follow the life of Anders Gustaf Andersson, who is brother to Erik Andersson Bergström.  Below are links related to Anders Gustaf.  I want to try to ensure that Anders Gustaf never married and had a family.  From the records it appears that is the case.  Just want to try to make sure.

Thank you,
Greg

Anders Gustaf died unmarried, 21 yo on Dec 28 1846 "genom vådelig händelse i grufvan" - died from a dangerous accident in the mine.
Are you related to the sister Anna Stina b 1834?

Thank you, Leif.  Much appreciated.  Could you please share any record links associated with Anders Gustaf's death and knowing he died unmarried?

I am related to Anna Stina Andersdotter, born 15 March 1834.  She is my second great-grandmother.  I am just getting in to family history work and tracing my ancestors back to Sweden and Denmark.  It is fascinating to me.

Thank you again for your help.

You asked about Anna Stina (b 15 March 1834).  Do you have a connection to her?

Leif:

A few questions please:

On the marriage record:
https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v130630?image=14
where does it say Erik Andersson is from -- the place right after his name?

On Johanna Sofia's birth record:
https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v130613?image=92
where is the location of the birth on this record, I believe begins with an "R"?

Thank you,
Greg

Leif:

I now see that the birth location of Johanna Sofia is Kloster, Husby Parish, Kopparberg --- correct?

Still cannot make out the location where Erik Andersson is from on the marriage record (right after his name):

"Kloster" is correct.

The other one: I think it says "Långsh", for Långshyttan. Johanna Sofia is from the same place ("ibm").

Confirming that, and tracking them back, is going to take some work though, because he was a clever one with his own system for making genealogy interesting, this priest ... ;)

If you look them up after they married[1] (there's a reference in their marriage notice), it says there that Erik came from No 141, and Johanna Sofia from No 136.

These are references into a list of "menials" (tjänstefolk), that begins on p 81 of AI:16a.

In the household records (for Långshyttan, and probably all over) he (the clever priest) simply wrote the job description in the name column (e.g. "dräng", or "piga") and then just the number in the household examination columns for each year. See AI:16b p 193[2] for a good illustration ... and by pure coincidence, when I look at the numbers on that page I find both Eriks and Johanna Sofias there :).

Thank you, Staffan.  As always, very helpful.

On the referenced household record:
https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v130569?image=22&page=15
it shows two sons: Carl Erik born 1856 Feb 4 and Carl Johan born 1857 June 12.

I can find Carl Erik's birth record:
https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v130619?image=74

but despite multiple searches I cannot find Carl Johan's birth record.

Any assistance would be most appreciated.

Thank you,
Greg

The births/baptisms doesn't seem to be entered in strictly chronological order ... his birth appears to not have been entered in the books until in October, or later ...

I started scanning the births that year, on the assumption that he had got the wrong date in the household records.

I scanned them from the back, because it was more likely that the notice would be later -- both because of biology (it had to be 9 months or more after Carl Eriks birth), and practical (if that is the word): if the priest was trying to correct a missed note in the book, he would not cram it in at the beginning, he would either do it in the proper place, or at the (at the time current) end.

As it turns out it was a correction ... and if you look carefully at the page where the notice "should"* be, at the bottom left of the picture, under #70 Fredrik, the priest has pencilled in a pointer to Carl Johan: "vide 122" -- 122 being the number of CJs birth notice.

We don't really know how this priest handled the job of book-keeping -- but a fairly normal practice, even today, is to jot down a note on a scrap of paper, and then later -- sometimes much later -- transcribe these in the right form and place ... Maybe that note got lost in June, and then was rediscovered in October?
