I am trying to track Stina Jansdotter, born 17 Aug 1778, in Bremon, Ramsnas, Finnerodja.  Parents were Jan Andersson and Britta Olofsdotter.  The last record that I can find is a household record from Korterud.  I cannot tell where she moved after that.  It looks like she moved in 1803 to Bre???sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0050089_00116
[/color]I have looked through many household records and marriage records but cannot find her.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

She goes back home[1], to Bremon -- the text runs together with a note that she is "abs[ent]".

That doesn't help much, though -- there are no notes about where she went after that ...

So we'll go at it from the other end: in 1817 her mother dies[2]. At the estate inventory[3] the children are listed: 4 sons, named as Johannes, Erik, Olof and Jakob, and two daughters. The daughters are both unnamed -- but their husbands are named: the miller Petter Andersson in Lilla Häggebo can't be there because the mill requires his presence, but his wife is there; and the hussar Ram has been ordered away, and his wife is missing because of something to do with a sick child.

Lilla Häggebo is in the neighboring parish of Undenäs: at Lilla Häggebo[4] we find Petter Andersson with a wife called Stina Jansdotter. It doesn't say that he's a miller. Her birth year is given as 1780, corrected to 1779. Their marriage was 1808-05-14 at Lilla Häggebo[5]. Stina is noted as a widow. Just above the note about Petter A.s. and Stina in Lilla Häggebo is a Peter Carlsson (born 1774), with a wife Stina Jansdotter, born 1780. They have come from Finnerödja, and Peter C.s. dies in 1807.

On Dec 29, 1803, Peter Carlsson (32 years old, i.e born ~1771) in Kråkvattnet marries Stina Jansdotter (24 years old, i.e. born ~1779) from Stora Bremon[6]. In Kråkvattnet, it is noted to Peter C.s. name that he comes from Korterud 1802 (where Stina is between 1801 and 1803), and that he goes to Undenäs in 1804[7].

PS. Stinas sister, married 1810-10-03 to the hussar Anders Ram, is called Maria[8]. DS

Staffan:

Thank you so much for all your work.  I never would have found this information as it was so confusing.  Jan Andersson, Stina's father, was my 3rd great-grandfather.  I had found information on all the other children but could never find Stina.  The son Johannes was my 2nd great-grandfather.  I was unfamiliar with the häradsrätt and finally found it through Archives, but I did not see how to enter a name.  Also some of the numbers on the references are a little off.  For instance, reference number 4 shows up as Bild 28 / Soda 27 in riksarkivet.  Thanks again.  Carol

It was my pleasure ... literally ;)

There are several reasons why picture numbers and page numbers may be different between Riksarkivet and Arkiv Digital:

  * the pictures are often taken at different times -- RA:s pictures are usually rescans of microfilm images taken by the mormons in the 40ies and 50ies, while AD make new ones directly to digital, at higher resolution and in color.
  * between the two occasions a volume has been photographed, it may have been repaginated, or even broken up, and/or rebound with some other volume ...
  * the identification of pictures most often refer to a whole spread, i.e. 2 pages, but only has one number in the database -- and RA and AD variously choose the left or right side, or old or new paginations -- so the links they give you do not always refer to the correct page number, although the data is on that picture. I do try to correct them, but sometimes I get distracted by a hot trail and forget. (Corrected ref [4], above :) )

The links AD gives to NAD, the National Archive Database is a good way to get into the same archive @ RA -- but from there you'll have to navigate, yourself. The estate inventories for Hova häradsrätt at RA do not have the page numbers in the database, so you'll have to flip thru to find page 753 -- a rough guess would put it at picture 375 or later (~half of 755 -- two pages to a picture, remember?)

Staffan:

Thank you again.  I appreciate the information.

I have now found four children for Stina and Petter Andersson.  I think Jacob must have died at a young age as he does not appear in the household records at any time.  But there are three daughters.  I also believe that I found the record for Peter Carlsson's death in 1807.  Sometimes it just takes persistence to plow through the records.
