My fourth great grandfather was Nils Jonsson, born Sept 24, 1851 at Lilla Gardsas in Gunnarskog, died Dec 6, 1833 at Salungen, Mangskog.[/font]

I’ve found conflicting information for his parents, Jon Nilsson and Kjersti Andersdotter.[/font]

According to the information I have found in other trees, Jon Nilsson was born at Lilla Gardsas in Gunnarskog July 2, 1721 to Nils Engebretsson and Elin Ifwarsdotter. Some say he died in Gunnarskog, and others in Mangskog.[/font]

I have Kjersti or Kerstin Andersdotter as his wife. Her birth date and place are uncertain. Some have her born in 1720-1724, others in 1734. Some say she was born in Gunnarskog, and others in Mangskog. Some say that she was the daughter of Anders Jonsson and Kari Andersdotter. Some have her married to Jon Nilsson Rusianen.[/font]

I have altered my tree according to the information you gave me.


Now I am trying to solve the mystery of my relationship to Jon Nilsson Rusainen, Tobyn Mangskog 1728-1803 and Kerstin Andersdotter, Tobyn, Mangskog 1734-1801. I must be related somehow because I have DNA matches through 4 of their children, Anders, Karin, Mans, and Cajsa. (Estimated to be 5th or 6th cousins.) Ancestry.com thinks I'm related through my Gunnarskog ancestor Jon Nilsson, but they obviously have it wrong! It may go back a generation or two to another set of ancestors, but I haven't found the connection yet.

Where did you find that Jon Nilsson and Kerstin Andersdotter had the children Måns and Kajsa? I have seven children of them in my computer, but no Måns and Kajsa in the book of births. Also I have never found the name Rusainen in any source?

You are right about Mans. I noticed that his infomation didn't match when I went back to look for mutual ancestors. Ancestry does get it right most of the time but they seem to be confused with all the Jan/Jon Nilssons and Kerstin Andersdotters in Varmland. Ancestry assigned him to Jon Nilsson Rusainen, but he was born to yet another Jan/Jon Nilsson in Östra Ämtervik. Several trees have Casja descended from Jon Nilsson Rusainen, but she seems to have been born in Domleskogan, Nedre Ullerud, so I doubt it. No one seems to have birth records.

[/size]The Millenium file doesn't have the name Rusainen but a number of trees do. I have no idea where it came from. The problem with online trees is that misinformation spreads easily. (Including some that had the Jon Nillson on my tree married to the wrong Kerstin Andersdotter.)
