From 1795 Johan Sahlsteen has a company (Sahlsten & Laurin) in Göteborg. Johan Joachim Laurin is his business partner. Laurin was born in Gotland, but is living in Amsterdam, where he runs another firm with his uncle. Laurin lives (temporarily) in Göteborg, but lives in Amsterdam from 1803.
Question: Was Johan Sahlsten also born in Visby? Could he be a son of Anders Sahlsten?

There are a lot of registers for Visby and I can't find Johan Sahlgren in any of them. Several other Sahlgrens though, but there were some in Göteborg also, and Kalmar. Do you have any more info on Johan? Like approximately when he was born, in what part of the city he lived or if he was already married before moving to Amsterdam?

Thank you Kalle and Anita. Sorry it took so long for me to reply!
As Sahlsten apparently had no connection with Gotland, Laurin and he must have met in another way when they set up business together. Thank you again for your answer!

It seems there is something wrong with the information in "Göteborgs nation i Lund 1669-1906". Strandridaren Sven Erik Sahlsten and his wife Hedvig Eleonora (Nora Hedvig) Hallenberg had a son Johan, but he was born 1763 in the parish of Hanhals, not 1743. They were married 1759 in Hanhals. Johan Sahlsteen i Göteborg had a child 1779, and according to note on death in Göteborgs domkyrkoförsamling 1812 he was born 1743. He could have been a brother of Sven Erik Sahlsten, a child with another mother, or they were not related at all. I now seaching the death note of Sven Erik Sahlsten, the family moved to Kungsbacka from Hanhals. More information with sources can be found here:
