Emma Augusta Johansdotter emigration date

Min mormors mor Emma Augusta Johansdotter f. 3 januari 1864 åkte till USA omkring året 1884. Jag skulle vilja fråga om någon kan se precis datumet när hon flyttade hit. Också funderar jag om det finns folkräkning från Horn med Emma, föräldrar och syskon. Tack så mycket på förhand för hjälpen!

Fantastic! This is MUCH MORE than I had hoped for! Thanks so very much! I am updating my tree now. I see the date is clearly the 5th, so thanks for that correction as well!

I am curious if the moving certificate indicate precisely when she sailed or would that have been some time later? Interestingly, in the US Census for 1910 Emma says here arrival year was 1884 and in the 1920 and 1930 census she states it was 1885.  (To further complicate matters, in the 1930 US Census, she states it was 1882!) So confusing. I see several Emma Augustas coming in to the US as well. It is not a huge deal, but it would be interesting to know what ship, etc., if I can narrow it down. At least I know for sure it was AFTER that 1884 date.

I so enjoy being able to see the images of the husförhörslängder for Horn. I am guessing she was in Odensvi as a maid, based on what I think I am translating in the records. I did not know she was outside of Horn, so this is also interesting information to have.

Hi Karen,

The certificate was more of an ID-card so I wouldn't hope to find travel information there.

If she waited too long to go, there would have been a note i the houshold exam so I think she left Sweden 1884.
In general the date written down closest to the actual event is the most trustworthy, memory fades.

My great grandmother Emma Augusta came with her family to Langley, Washington, where she and her female cohorts were elected to an all-woman city council 100 years ago! It is great to know details of her journey here!
