I cannot read what the cause of death is on the 1800 death record for Jöns Nilsson - can anyone tell me what it is?

Correction: the name should be Jöns Thorsson!

Does the translation consuming disease make sense?

Yes, it may mean consumption, which is tuberculosis!

Yes, it's consumption disease  - weight loss that appeared to consume the individual as the disease progressed. Not sure if it only means tuberculosis in this case. Maybe Wasting Disease is a better translation.

I agree with you - I'm noting it using the literal translation in my records.  The choice of words makes me think it may be tuberculosis but it may also be something else.
