Attached is a copy of an entry on a 1757 tax record that includes a young man named Jonas  who I think is the same young man named Jonas (Arvidsson) who is listed as the parish tailor from at least 1758 through 1764. Since his patronymic name is not included on this record I cannot tell if it might be the same Jonas I'm looking for.  Both are listed at the same location in Kånna.

Can anyone help with the names and notation that I've highlighted?  Are these people related?

I would really appreciate any help with this.

Thanks so much,

Vicki Cihla

Very hard text to read this year, had to open up 1756 to compare. Jonas has the title "goss." which is short for gosse, boy. But in 1756 he has the title lärogosse, learning boy so he's an apprentice here, either as a tailor or a shoemaker. Swen Swensson above him is the parish shoemaker at least, and in 1756 there was also a tailor in the house. But, in 1756 Jonas has got a last name, Pärsson. So he shouldn't be the one you are looking for.

Thank you for looking into this further.  I have found Jonas Arvidsson in the years 1758, 1759, 1760, 1762, 1764 and his marriage record in 1764:

https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v840189a?image=3610&page=705  (1758 tax)
https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v840190?image=3440&page=677    (1759 tax)
https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v840191a?image=3740&page=719   (1760 tax)
https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v840193?image=3790&page=741     (1762 tax)
https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v840195?image=3620&page=352      (1764 tax)
https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v30538?image=72  (11 June 1764 marriage)  *** I just noticed the marriage record right below it that is for a December marriage between a Törnqvist (I think) an Arivdsdotter?  ***   Maybe that is a further clue for my Törnqvist research even though it is not for an Erik or Per.

Anyway, it seems like the trail goes cold for Jonas Arvidsson in 1757 - I don't even see an Arvid or other Arvidsson in Kånna that year, unless I missed it.  I'm not at all familiar with the place name Berghem or Bergsgården - it seems that is where the tailor and shoemaker (and apprentices?) are listed.  Do you know anything about that place?

Thanks for your help,

Vicki Cihla

Jon Törnqvist and Greta Axelsdotter. At least you know that there was a Jon riding for Dragaryd this year.

I don't know anything about Kånna, to be honest. I live far away and havn't even been in the general area in twenty years.

Thank you for the information!  Is anyone familiar with Berghem or Bergsgården in Kånna?  Does anyone know anything about how tailor apprenticeships were typically done?  The tailor I'm following, Jonas Arvidsson, seems to have disappeared when I go back further in time from 1758.

Any information on how apprenticeships worked and/or information on that area (farm?) would be of great interest.

Thanks for any help!
