Soldiers listed in the centrala soldatregistret missing from rolls at Riksarkivet

(1/1)

Kevin Casey:
I have two soldiers found in the centrala soldatregistret, both serving in Strömsholms Kompani of Västmanlands regemente. However, I can find neither searching several different years in the Generalmönsterrullor:

One soldier is Per Andersson Anka, who began serving in 1690. The other is Olof Persson Grönberg, who began his service in 1747.

Was it common for soldiers to serve in different companies at different times? Is the database itself sometimes inaccurate? Or are my eyes the problem?

Thank you,
Kevin

Ulf Svensson:
My experience is that Centrala Soldatregistret only keeps the latest "company set-up". If your soldier served in an older organisation you must put in more effort in your search of the soldier. If the number is same despite organsation it is easier.
By searching on a very limited number of years, in the archives, you get a manageable hit.

I found Per Andersson Anka in Majorens Kompani as #108 in 1692.

Olof Persson Grönberg was also found in Majorens Kompani as #102 in 1748
