I am researching a young woman who emigrated from Stockholm in 1813 (not a typographical error).
Margaretha Catharina Wendbom (f:1794.05.01 Solna)

Any idea where these records might be located?

On March 10, 1813 Margaretha Catharina Wendbom was registered as moving into Hovförsamlingen (the non-territorial parish of the royal court) in Stockholm. She came from Solna and was now employed by the confectioner Etienne Gavuzzi.

Margaretha Catharina Wendbom is not found in the 1813 moving out records of Hovförsamlingen (BII:1). Starts here:

According to her father Eric Wendbom’s estate inventory, dated June 9, 1828, she was living in Switzerland since 1813.

Thanks so much for making this connection.

I had seen that her father's bouppteckning noted that she left Sweden in 1813, but it is great to have more details.

My current theory is that she left as a servant/au pair to a diplomat, military attache, merchant or wealthy family who moved to France.  This is based on her appearance in 1824 living in Neuchâtel, possibly as a result of having to leave France after the war.  However, Neuchâtel is historically connected to Prussia as well.

My understanding is that before 1840, Swedes who left the country required special permission.  I am trying to find where those documents would be archived.

This story continues to become more interesting...

It is almost certain that Margaret Catharina Wendbom left Stockholm as a servant for Captain Georges-Alexandre von Dardel and Baroness/Countess Hedvig Sofia Charlotta Amalia Lewenhaupt.  They moved with their young children from Sweden to St. Blaise, Neuchâtel, Switzerland in 1814.

I have not been able to locate a listing for passjournal or other record of her emigration from Stockholm.  It is possible that the Dardel family had different requirements because of their her title and his foreign birth...
