I am following my wife's family from the time her great grandfather Carl came to the United States in 1892, and we are trying to find cousins that are still in Sweden. We have traced Ann-Margret Hallman Roth, who was Carl's great niece to Helsingborg, where she married Bertil Roth in 1941, and had a daughter Ulla in 1942.  We are slowly learning how to use the church records in the archives and have added much to our family tree when we have come across a page that is confusing.  Here is the webpage for the record:

https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/00124382_00048

What I don't understand is what N.L 1166 means in this case. Usually it refers to a record for where they moved to, but in this case almost everyone on the page and the next page all have the exact moving date, which seems odd.  Also, column 15 translates to "conscription Conditions" and I don't understand what 386 5/38, is referring to.  I would very much appreciate an explanation of what happened to Ann-Margret and Ulla.

Which brings me to my 2nd question. Since the archives available online stop in 1946, how can I find more information about Ulla? We are visiting Sweden in a few months and hope to find her or her family if they are still in the area. Is there a way to do that with the archives, or should we be considering a different approach? Thanks for any advice you can give.

Steve, 386 5/38 is a conscription enrollment number. “38” stands for the year of registration of the conscript, i.e. 1938. “5” is the Roll Keeping Area Code and stands for “Landskrona rullföringsområde” or Landskrona Roll Keeping Area [Landskrona draft board] which was a part of Malmöhus norra inskrivningsområde or Malmöhus North Enrollment Area. “”386” is his serial number in the roll.
I found his draft card (stamkort) at ArkivDigital. Bertil Roth was born on 17 June 1918 in Helsingborg and was registered as a conscript at the age of 20, i.e. 1938.
There is no information on the card regarding when he did his basic military training (värnpliktstjänstgöring) but it must have been the same year he was registered or the following year. However, he did two military refresher courses (repetitionsövning) in 1952 and 1953 according to his draft card.

The American draft card is just a registration card while Swedish cards serve a dual purpose in that they also contain service data the American doesn't have.
According to Population of Sweden, a population index at ArkivDigital, he was married on 29 November 1941 to Ann Margret (nee Hallman). /Hans

Thank you Hans.

I still don't understand where to follow this record to. On the original page I posted (https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/00124382_00048), it appears that a lot of people left the parish on 2 Aug 1945, which seems odd.  Is that what it means or does it mean that after 2 Aug 1945, I should look in the new book on page 1166?  I've attached the database records I can see in SA, and the record link in my original question was from Vol 7 in this image.  I don't know how to find the "New Book" page 1166.  Is it online?

Thanks again for your help.

Steve, the parish books are ledgers that usually covers 10 years. The Helsingborg parish book you are referring to covers the years 1936 – 1945. The next Helsingborg parish book in this series would cover the years 1946 to 1955. There is a 70 years secrecy act for all church records which means that the Helsingborg parish book 1946 – 1955 isn’t available for the public until 2025.
However, there is the Population of Sweden registers that are available up to 1990 accessible online. Most of these registers are decennial registers and exist for 1940, 1950, 1960, 1970, 1975, 1980, 1985 and 1990. Most of these registers are available online, while others are available on DVDs.
ArkivDigital has the following registers online: 1940, 1950, 1960, 1975, and 1985. I’m not sure which ones the Nationals Archives have available online. /Hans

It's possible to find her present address in public registers. As it's a living person I've sent you a link in a PM.
