Hej Carrie,

Född 1823 i småland. Verksam som kolportör. Baptist.

A six year old child, Lars Andersson, was sent to Orebro Molander in 1787 when both parents died in Mosjö. (Mosjö AI:5, Bild 30, S. 19). Where would Molander have been and can someone help me find him in the 1788-? hfl in Örebrö?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi Martha,

Gustav Molander lives at 36S in Örebro (Örebro Nikolai AI:9, s197) and you can find Lars and his sister Catharina on the following page. They seem to have moved back to Mosjö in 1789.

Gustav Molander is the brother of Lars' mother Catharina, a fact I discovered by reading the estate inventory following his death in 1789 (Örebro rådhusrätt och magistrat F2:15, s49). There are also two other brothers; Magnus Molander, livrustmästare and Sven Gustafsson, farming in Sörby, Mosjö (T).
Of course, this may be old news to you, but I thought I'd include it, just in case!

Hi Anne-Sofie,

Thank you very much for your help. I am actually trying to track the movements of all of the Lars born in Mosjö between 1781-1785.  I was hoping that the one being sent off to Orebro at age 6 would be the one who stayed there and became Lars Rundelius. The extra details about the uncles helped as I was able to rule out this Lars since he was married and living in Mosjö in 1803.

A descendant of Lars Rundelius posted a family tree on Ancestry tying his Lars to the man I believe is my Lars Larsson Löfgren's father, i.e. Lars Nilsson of Löfåsen, Mosjö. Both men were supposedly born in 1783 in Mosjö, but I have seen many instances where clerks put down the wrong date, so I was extending my search beyond the three who were born in 1783.  The person cites several refs in Orebro (AI:15a, s. 249, 34, 252, 199; AI16a, s.346, 227; EI:1, s.168; F:2, s.73.) But all of these refs give only Lars Rundelius, no patronymic. He cites the Mosjö birth ref., AI:5, s.82, but nothing to connect that with his Lars Rundelius.

I'm still searching, but so far have not found indication of when and from where Lars Rundelius moved into Orebro. I believe I heard at one time that there is a cd index for Orebro St. Nikolai.  If you have access to it and can find out more about the movements of this Lars Rundelius, I would certainly appreciate it.

I have done a lot of research tying my Lars Löfgren to his parents and believe it is accurate. However, if it isn't, I want to correct it. Assuming it is accurate, it would be easier to  contact this other person if I can tell him who his ancestor actually is. Thus I will be very grateful for any help you can offer.

Hi Martha,

It seems that Lars Rundelius came to Örebro from Mosjö in 1804, moving in to 162N (Örebro AI:12, s281; AI:13, s282; AI:14, s367). Does that help at all? When did your Lars leave Mosjö, and where to?
You'd have to say that Löfgren is a more obvious choice of name for someone coming from Löfåsen than Rundelius, but of course it doesn't prove anything...

I'm afraid that I have never heard of an Örebro index cd. It can sometimes be helpful to try the estate inventory index, available here: http://www2.orebro.se/stadsarkiv/filarkiv.htm (indeed how I found Molander the other day!)

Cheers,
Anne-Sofie

Hej Katarina,

Mvh
Anne-Sofie

Hi Anne-Sofie,

Thank you again for you help.
I checked all the refs you sent and again only Rundelius was used.  Today I went through the Mosjö hfl of 1801-1805 page by page looking for the name Rundelius (didn't think I had ever seen it there before and didn't again) and for a Lars who went to Örebro in 1804. I found him, the other surviving Lars born 1783 who went first to Stockholm (about 1800) then back to Mosjö where he was with his parents and then from there to Örebro in 1804 with an attest. I'm convinced he is the one who became Lars Rundelius. My Lars left Mosjö sometime after Oct 16, 1803 (without an attest) although I'm guessing probably after his father died in 1804 (just to add to the confusion!). He probably went to Åtvid where his older brother was and where the next definite information (in Borg) says he moved in from Åtvid. I've satisfied myself and hope I can convince the other person.

Thank you also for the information about the estate inventory index.  I hope I can figure out how to get it properly unzipped, formatted and searchable.

Can you explain to me the numbering in some of the Örebro hfls. Specifically, Vol. AI:10 (1791-95). Two-thirds of the way down the page, Gossen Petter Larsson Löfgren is shown as coming in from 146.3 (or 8) and going out to 121.10. I see there is an additional set of numbers beside the pages and a register, but how does one relate these to the numbers given beside the individuals.

Thanks again for all of your help.

Mvh,
Martha

Hi Martha,

Ah yes, the joy of the Örebro hfls! The town of Örebro is divided into a north and a south part (with the river Svartån as the divider between the two). In these early hfl there are no street names, only house (or plot) numbers, followed by a letter N (for norr/north) or S (for söder/south). So in your example, Petter moves from 146S to 121N!
The house numbers can be found in the upper left corner of the pages, and generally Norr is the first part of the hfl, followed by Söder.
Later on it gets more confusing when there is a mixture of street names and house numbers...
Not sure if I explained this properly, if I can be of any further help, please just ask!

Regarding the estate index, I keep double clicking until the thing opens up in Notepad. It looks a mess of writing, but can be searched by using the edit tab at the top and then find. There is probably a way of making it prettier, but that works for me.

Cheers,
Anne-Sofie

Hi Anne-Sofie,

Thanks again for the help.  It took a bit, but I was finally able to find all of the pages in the Örebro hfls.  114S stumped me for a while as there didn't seem to be that many locations, but I returned to it yesterday and found it.  I also established the missing two years in the life of my Lars Larsson Lofgren, (b. 7 Apr 1783) son of Lars Nilsson. He left Mosjö in 1804 without an attest and went to Åtvid where his brother Petter was living.  He lived there with his brother for two years, then went to Borg and other places in Östergötland before returning to Åtvid with wife and daughter where he raised a large family and spent the rest of his life.

Although I found nothing absolute to link any Lars Larsson of Mosjö with Lars Rundelius of Örebro, I think he may very well have been the son of Lars Olofsson and Elisabeth Larsdotter, born May 19, 1783.  Their son went to Stockholm in 1800, but returned to Mosjö. He was living with his parents between 1801-1804 (Mosjö AI:7, Bild 44, S. 34 and B.107, S.97) when he went to Örebro (1804) with an attest.

The person who submitted the incorrect lineage has also put it on two other web sites and did not respond to an email a friend sent for me through Ancestry so hope they will see this and be able to find the correct lineage.

Best wishes,

Martha

Hej!

Mvh, Anne-Sofie
