I would greatly appreciate help translating the birth record of my great-grandmother Anna Charlotta Peterson. She is number 940 on the attached birth record. I can read the names of her parents (Niklas Peterson and Oleana Eliasdotter) but am unsure if it says that Niklas was a former artillery man (retired military). Also, where do I locate the household exam for them? Is that “C 648” significant (it might not be “C”)?

Thanks

Yes, Niklas was a former artillery man. On the right page you have the mother's age, 40. "ex" in the next column means that she was assisted by an examined midwife. Then you have the witnesses at the baptism.

There weren't real household exam records in Gothenburg but another type of records called "Personalförteckning". "C 648" is a reference to this and it's here: https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/C0040562_00336

As you can see, Anna's father died when she was four, so she might not have had many memories of a father.

You also find him with the title svärdsman, which indicates that he has been rewarded Svärdstecknet, a mark of honour for non-commissioned officers:

Many thanks to you both!
I have a follow up question regarding the Personalförteckning C 648. I am familiar with the Swedish household exams of my other ancestors, but this type of form is new to me. Are the other names listed under Niklas Peterson his other children (I assume they are) Joselina Charlotta, Johanna Maria (same date of birth as sister?), Carl Oscar, Augusta Elsabita Matlida, Adolf Fridrik? I see that Niklas and two children passed away correct?
And could you please tell me the birth parish listed for both Niklas and Oleana? I think Niklas's is Torpa?

Niklas is born in Torpa. Maybe there is more than one parish with that name in Sweden. I´m not sure.
Oleana was born in Morlanda Parish 25 Nov 1830.
You find her and her 2 illegitimate daughters in the parish Bokenäs AI:16 page 137.
Josefina Charlotta born 1860 and Johanna Maria born 1855 in Göteborg (no date mentioned).
Oleana and Josefina Charlotta moved from Bokenäs to Göteborg Domkyrko on 11 Dec 1860.
Johanna Maria was moved to page 121 in Bokenäs.
Niklas came to Göteborg Domkyrko from Garnisonsförsamlingen 8 Nov 1861.

There is a "Torpa" in Västra Götalands län so it might be that one.
In Personalförteckning C 648 you also see that after Niklas death, Oleana moves to the parish
"Göteborgs Karl Johan" on 11 February 1878.

Niklas and his first wife came from Borås when they moved in to Göteborgs Garnisonsförsamling in 1834, so I guess it should be Torpa in Älvsborgs län, as that Torpa was connected to Borås, but I don't find him in the birth records there. I've also looked in the records of the other nearby Torpa (in Halland), but he's not there either.

I've looked into the military records. They confirm that he was born i Torpa, Älvsborgs län on January 6, 1807. He was dissmissed in 1857 due to illness. On request dismissed with a request for pension, the record says. It also says that he shall be awarded "Svärds-" something. Unfortunately, the paper is folded so you can't read it all. I don't think it was Svärdstecknet mentioned earlier, because that was for NCO:s and he was a private. They received Svärdsmedaljen. The record is here:
https://sok.riksarkivet.se/bildvisning/A0030086_00266
You can also see that he had served for 23 years and one month and that he was 5 foot 7½ inches.
So it was correct that Anna's father had a pension, but not for a lost leg but for long and faithful service.
