I am looking for information about my grandfather's (farfar) two sisters, who stayed in Sweden.  Sigrid Lovisa Carlsson, f 12/9/1886 in Norrkoping, Hedvig.  She had a daughter, Sigrid Anna Lisa f. 17/2/1913 in Norra Förs Örebro län and married Oscar Olof Eriksson f. 19/9/1884 in St. Mellösa Örebro län.  They may have had two other children, Dagmar and Calle.  Any information on when they died and information on the three children is appreciated.

The second sister was Dagmar Hildegard Carlson, f. 30/1/1895 in Hedvig.  I have a death notice for Dagmar Eriksson, f. 29/1/1895, dod 4/3/1980 in Norrkoping and listing Anita, Bo, Per and Lise-Lott.  Any information on her husband, date of marriage, children is appreciated.  Thank you all.

There are no children in Vilhelm Valdemar's and Dagmar Hildegard's household (1935/1940/1950).

Sigrid Lovisa with husband and daughter in 1931. No more children found:

Åke,
Thank you for the information.  My farfar died when my far was a boy, so I have little information about his family.  I thought Sigrid had other children because I have a Christmas card from her to my grandfather that ends fran alla, Sigrid Oscar Anna Lisa, Dagmar and Calle.  It is a coincidence that they lived at Sodra St Persgatan 2.  My farmor Alice lived at Sodra St Persgatan 32 but she did not meet my grandfather until she moved to America.

Thank you for your help.  I will be sure to post more questions soon.

Robert,
Dagmar was Sigrid's younger sister, according to the Birth Records of Norrköping Hedvig parish. They were both daughters of Johan August Carlsson, coachman, born Febr. 12 1857, and his wife Anna Lovisa Nord, born March 11 1859. There was also a younger brother Carl Einar, born May 17 1890, who no doubt would have been called Calle.

Thank you Ingemar!  I did not know that Calle was a nickname for Carl.  That accounts for all of the names on the card to my grandfather.

I met your farmor Alice Trybom/Carlson around 1950 when I was 14 years old.
She had lunch with me and my parents. She visited Sweden a couple of times and hold contact with different members of the Bjurström family, even before I was born.
The reason was that she was going to marry my uncle Harald Bjurström 1889-1917.
He suddenly died in bleeding gastric ulcer and Alice left for Amerika in dec. 1918.
My father and his older brother Harald were very close and my parents and Harald and Alice met a lot in the old days, I have been told.
I have a sister, born 1920 who met Alice and her son and daugther (Harold and Dagny I belive) when she was young. It must have been shortly after Alice became a widow in 1931.
For many years we got Christmas greetings, always with a dollar bill in it.
/Åke

Åke,

I am very touched about your recollection of my grandmother Alice.  She lived to be 96 years old and I am her oldest grandchild.  Her trip to Sweden in 1950 was because her mother Johanna Trybom f. Petersson was dying.  I was born while she was away.

Your uncle Harald was her true love.  I have several pictures of the two of them together, as well as cards from him and Hanna and Tora.  I know that she kept in touch with Tora.  I have her old address book with Tora's address in it.   My grandmother told me that your uncle had surgery for his bleeding ulcers and during the operation the surgeon cut Harald's aorta and he bled to death.   Alice kept Harald's burial service invitation to the day that she died.  I inherited these photos and papers from my father when he died.  If you would like me to email these pictures to you, I will.  Just message me with your email address.  I also have pictures who I suspect may be Hanna and Tora but I do not know for sure.

Alice had a brother Harald, who moved to America in 1908.  When he was first living there he lived with my grandfather's aunt and uncle, Mathilda and John Jensen.  Mathilda was my farfar mor's sister (Anna Lovisa Nord).  Harald Trybom a woman named Susan Bates from Scotland and they had several children.  His wife left him at one point and Harald asked Alice to come to America to help him with the children.  Since your uncle had died the previous year, Alice moved to America to help her brother.

I do not know how my grandparents met each other because my grandmother said that she did not meet my grandfather Harold until coming to America.  However, Harold's sister, Sigrid Eriksson only lived two blocks from my grandmother, so they may have known each other.  I suspect that her brother introduced them, since by 1910 Harold Carlson (American spelling) lived with the Jensen family, along with several Nord cousins, another aunt and Harald Trybom.

Alice married Harold Carlson in 1923.  My father Harold was born in 1925 and Dagny in 1927.  Harold was in the American army during WWI and he was gassed.  His lungs were weak and he developed tuberculosis and died in 1931.  Alice returned to Sweden with my father and aunt for several months.  It was long enough that Dagny forgot how to speak English when they returned to America.

I am glad that you wrote Åke.  I feel like I have reached family.

You knew a lot about this, I see.
I found some about your farfar on Internet, when he passed away and that he served in Europe under WW1, but I did not knew that he was from Norrköping. That I found out here on Anbytarforum.
It must have looked as a sign for Alice, she lost a Harald in Norrköping and met another Harald from Norrköping in America.
Now I have found out some about your farfar´s family in Sweden.
I guess that Alice had the best contact with Tora (1903-96) even if she was the youngest among the brothers and sisters. Because, I think that she became a widow already 1944 and then Haralds mother Johanna (1865-1961) moved in with her.
Tora lived near Malmö in southern Sweden her last years, where her daughter Gunborg (1928-2013) lived.
About 10 years ago I got two pictures from Gunborg (via another cousin) of Alice and Harald, the first I have seen of them and the same as you have, I guess. Most of family letters and pictures probably endid upp with Tora and Gunborg and I have no contact with that part of the family.
I will try to E-mail you, my address is under my name to the left, I think, when you are logged in.
