I searched this family to 1883-1892 in Tossberg. Page 92. Website I use does not go beyond 1892.

[size=0pt]Daughter: Karin,  born 8 May 1882[/size]

[size=0pt]I have all information about Matts.[/size]
[size=0pt]I would like to know more about Karin and Olof. Did they marry and have children? [/size]

Whole family still in Tossberg Mattmar AI:10 (1893-1899) Bild 1140 / sid 107 (AID: v114874.b1140.s107, NAD: SE/ÖLA/11077). Karin, unmarried, get a son Nils Rickard born 7 Feb 1900, father unknown, Mattmar C:5 (1895-1908) Bild 630 / sid 28 (AID: v114881.b630.s28, NAD: SE/ÖLA/11077).


Family still in Tossberg Mattmar AIIa:1 (1900-1912) Bild 2630 / sid 251 (AID: v114875.b2630.s251, NAD: SE/ÖLA/11077). Olof Ström dies from Tuberculosis 25 Jan 1904, Mattmar C:5 (1895-1908) Bild 1340 / sid 22 (AID: v114881.b1340.s22, NAD: SE/ÖLA/11077). On 15 Feb 1902 Anders Jonasson Lif admitted that he is the father of Nils Rickard and the couple marries 8 Mar 1902 and is living in Tossberg, same page as her parents. Anders Jonasson Lif is born in Bollnäs 8 Dec 1877. Three more kids,
Helena born 22 June 1902, died 9 Dec 1903 from "Tustis convaltina?" (probably not correct interpreted)
Malin born 7 Dec 1903
Anna born 3 Mar 1905.


Both families still in Tossberg Mattmar AIIa:2b (1913-1935) Bild 1190 / sid 310 (AID: v228310.b1190.s310, NAD: SE/ÖLA/11077). For Anders Jonasson Lif there are two notices that he is living i Amerika but there are no dates, he has not officially moved out. In 1919 he is moved from the family to "End of the book" which probably is the "Bok över obefintliga" and the records there are not available to me. 22 May 1915 Karin get a son Carlo Henry, which is registered as illegitimate but the father is noted as "A. J. Lif in Amerika". That might be because they are formally married, but AJ is not at home so the father must be someone else, but that is my guess.


Karin's parents dies 1921 and 1928 and then Karin is noted as owner of Tossberg. 1935 she is moved to the next volume but that one is not available publicly (70 years of confidentiality).


1925 Malin Lif moves to Canada.
1928 Nils Rickard moves to USA but he returns to his mother in 1930.
1928 Anna Lif marries Johan Oskar Alenius, born 15 Aug 1902 in Alsen and they move in to Tossberg. They have one son born before 1935, but now we have persons that might still be living.


1941 in Tossberg 1:2 lives Karin Ström (with husband in USA) and both Karlo Henry Lif and Nils Rikard Lif. Also living there is Anna with husband and now two children, Häradsskrivaren i Jämtlands västra fögderi FIaa:106 (1941-1941) Bild 540 / sid 50 (AID: v306869.b540.s50, NAD: SE/ÖLA/10853).

Thanks for the info! In last part of reply you wrote Karlo Henry but he was never mentioned before. So, he was another son of Karin? Did husband of Karin remain in USA and she in Sweden? I am just trying to get it all correct in my mind. You finally found her name as Karin Ström. Her brother Matts used that name in Canada, maybe started to just before Emigration. I will hope that someone living will see my first post and email me. But that may take awhile. Last time I posted it took one year to get email.

Now I come back to read again and I see that you mentioned birth of Carlo Henry in your reply. I just missed it the first time. You have given me so much detail of information. One other info would be good to know is Emigration info for Nils Rickard in 1928 that gives intended destination.

Hi Georgina, his last name is mis-transcribed in the index at Ancestry.com but here is Nils Rikard's arrival in New York 1928.  According to the passenger manifest he was traveling to his friend Edvard Olsson, 1899 Madison Avenue, New York, NY.  His nearest relative was his mother Karin Lif, Torsberg.

The image of his death certificate from familysearch.org says that the informant is his brother John Life.  Here's documentation from Ancestry.com that Anders did have a brother John or Jonas and there's a Jonas John Life born 22 March 1874 buried in the same cemetery as Anders.
