Ha! No worries... :) Thanks for the military info you found and shared. MVH, Ken

2
No. 118 that is most likely him. Thanks

You mean Nils Erikson Lustig right?

3
Thanks Anti! MVH Ken

4
KG Hammarlund - I knew about the "Lustig" name and "Andrake" (meaning male duck/drake). The other information is awesome! Thank you! I am still trying to sort two "Nils" and two "Stina's" in that area at that time and that's why I need to get information on my Nils and Stina other than from the Döderhultsskivan which has Nils with the 1757 birth and nothing else that I can find has Nils with that date other than his birth record (attached).  Ken

5
Anti Poika - Yes thank you, I have that... which I think that is the correct (my) Nils born 1757 and Stina but there still was another båtsman Nils Lustig born 1764 and a Stina Persdotter around the Döderhult area the same time as my Nils and Stina. See attached files... Ken

6

"Well, it seems as if Döderhults husförhörslängder older than 1760 are missing."
So this "husförhörs" is from 1760 even with children that are born up to 1806? I was unable to find them in any others.

Thanks for the leads to the pages in the Military register, I captured all of them.
I had the one "Nils Lustig and Stina Persdotter in Döderhult AI/1 p. 239 (img. 134)."
The other reason I am doing this is there is some question on having the correct Stina which I thought the "husförhörs" would help.

Thanks again...
MVH Ken Johnson

Hi Sebastian, My apologies the email of your message through Anbytarforum went to Junk mail and I just recently found it and am just now having a chance to reply. Elin would be my 7th Great Aunt sister to my Sara Gabrielsdotter. Would you care to share your family line by private message or are you on Ancestry.com?

Hi KG Hammarlund, Thank you for your reply and the info. I wasn't totally clear... I have a birth record for a Nils, son of Eric born on Nov 11, 1757, what I am unable to find is the Husforhors that reflects the info from the "Döderhultsskivan". Ken -

I have asked a question on here previously (back in 2009) about this person and got a lot of information but a couple people have brought it to my attention that the birth year I have may not be correct. I have been doggedly searching on this to get it straight but still don't have anything concrete.

Nils Eriksson Andrake Lustig - I have a 11/11 1757 Lilla Hycklinge and a 1764 ?/? Fliseryd. The 2 "Nils'" born in Fliseryd 1764 fathers are "Lars" and "Anders" and I know my Nils is a "Erik"-sson.

He was in the military and shows up with the first birthdate (from Dovestad) but all the Husforhors have him as 1764 Fliseryd except the file I have a file that someone sent me once (*see attached file*) I can not find this parish record or which one it comes from?
I have gone over and over Husforhors and Fodelse's and still have not nailed it down. Very tough individual to get exact. The biggest thing is I would like to know where the attached file (Döderhultsskivan.docx) is referenced from!

It says til(?) Klämna Åsa, where would I find this place Klämna Åsa? I am trying to follow this family. - Lars Gabrielson and Sara Larsdotter.
I found a Klämna No. 1 (but the family is not there and I don't know if that is the correct Klämna (there is no Åsa))?

Apologies for my delayed reply... And apologies for my "google translate" Swedish it is the only way I am able to converse with you. Thank you for your replies and the information. I wasn't questioning your results... I just wondered where you got your information, for I validate things before supporting or endorsing them (or to call it as so). Regards, Ken Johnson

General questions / Help with a Parish Record for Döderhult
« skrivet: 2019-02-10, 18:04 »
I am trying to find the birth record of a Kerstin Andersdotter b1662 in Döderhult and the Parish book is very difficult to make sense of, it is not in the standard format I am used to.
The record I'm looking at is...
Döderhults kyrkoarkiv, Födelse- och dopböcker, SE/VALA/00065/C/1 (1653-1720)

Which should be the correct record, it just doesn't make any sense to me.

Anyone's help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like I need to get the 2nd image translated appears to be a lot of good information on there. Ken

Maria Petersdotter died 23 March 1896. The estate inventory first lists the children of her first marriage. Eva is dead in America, leaving two children of unknown name and age.

Hi Sven
I can't thank you enough for that information I would of never found those.
I didn't know that stuff on the family in America was put in the parish records after they had gone/emigrated, good to know.

Once I had A. Granberg's name and put it on Ancestry(.com) the floodgates opened and I have a ton of data to put in after putting in a number already. Once you get a few names it just snowballs and the people and the families just all start popping up. I hope or my wishes are that I can get to the point of finding the family lines to present day and connecting with unknown newly found relatives here in the States.
Thanks again your efforts were most helpful... :)

Again apologies for opening an old thread...
I am now doing more research on my Great Grandfathers siblings and trying to find where they ended up in North America.
Peter Erickson's sister Eva Eriksdotter b 15 Jan 1855 (55 15/1)

I have where she left in Husförhörslängder...Nöbbele kyrkoarkiv, Husförhörslängder, SE/VaLA/00285/A I/17 (1871-1875) Pg 351
And her leaving on the Utflyttning...
Nöbbele kyrkoarkiv, Inflyttningslängder, SE/VaLA/00285/B I/4 (1861-1878) Image 55

And then I hit the dead end...
I can not find her in the Emigranten Populär.
Nor can I find her in the USA on Census'
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hej,

It says they went to Grebo "440" 96 27/10 but I am unable to find a page 440 in Grebo? Another dead end...

I did find Johan August Peterson (the husband) in Linköpings
Linköpings domkyrkoförsamlings kyrkoarkiv, Död- och begravningsböcker, SE/VaLA/00222/F I/3 (1903-1908)
But it doesn't tell me anything of where they were, he was probably in Linköpingsin the Hospital and died there.
Could anyone give me guidance as to where "Grebo "440" would be in parish records?
I have both the children in the USA but am still trying to find out what happened to Anna Sofia.

Gott nytt år!

Hej,

Sorry to open an old thread but I have gone back to this family and am doing more research on them and where they all ended up in the USA.
I am particularly researching Anna Sophia Johansdotter (b 31/8/1856) whom above John Sidén informs me she married a Johan August Peterson and they moved to Linköping (Oppeby AI:17 page 255).
I know Anna Sophia ended up in the USA in Los Angeles because she is in an obituary for her brother Carl Gustaf and it says that she is surviving and is from there.
I am trying to figure out when she left Sweden and how she ended up in Los Angeles, with whom and when.  :)

I searched EmiHamn but didn't have any luck narrowing it down- way too many returns in the first place.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Gott nytt år!

Hopefully now this is enough of a lead I can track them down.

Thank you very much! Thanks to everyone!  :)

27
Marianne,

Nothing is coming up on him (or them) over here in the States. I have been on Familysearch.org and Ancestry.com for Census', etc.. If they were on Findagrave they would show up on Ancestry.com. No luck on DISBYT except his birth.

I don't come here (Anbytarforum) before checking those other easier sources just mentioned... I come here as a last resort when I have exhausted all of those options and everything over here has come up with nothing.

That's why I am trying so hard to get something from that end, otherwise I wouldn't be asking.

There are some Magnus Soderberg's but immigration dates and birth years are different.

I don't know if he/they changed their last name or what happened?

Thanks Roy

Found it... and it doesn't say where in America they were headed (I didn't think it would, I mostly just wanted to find this document and see everything on it), I guess I am going to have to purchase Emibase.

On Ancestry.com I have a Christina Maria Åkesdotter (b-28 NOV 1843 • Augerum) and a Magnus Holjersson Soderberg (14 FEB 1841 • Kufvehall 92, Kristianopel) and their children Thilda Maria, Haken Peter leaving Sweden for America in 27 Mar 1875 from Kristianopel, Blekinge.

I am unable to find this in the parish records but there is no index for the Husförhörslängder, I have a hard time understanding the Swedish on the "Riksarkivet" pages and I am not having luck.

In the end I am trying find out where they came to in America if the parish records say anything about destination.

Could/would someone help?

Gents,

Thank you so much for this the information you provided it is so invaluable to many of us (his ancestors) here in the States.

I made a Facebook "Lundquist" group a short while back where many of Johan's ancestors are sharing information and pictures and conversing, it was great to put this information on there.

It was also great to find out where he worked "Läggevi Manor and Powder Works", I found pictures of it online and have shared that to the group also.

Thanks kindly...

Hej,

Looking for information on a Eric Nilsson (guessing born in the 1730's) - Lilla Hyklinge

Who here (Döderhult C:3 (1739-1784) Image 168 / page 325) was having a son Nils Ericsson .

It looks like his parents were Nils Persson and Kristin Nilsdotter.

The Döderhult Household registers only go back to 1766. Is there any reference for before 1766?

Wow... you folks are so good at this and nice also to do this!  Thanks Helena and Britt Maria I got one connection of family from that information into America that I am related to.

@ Marianne I look forward to your continued support and thank you.

@ Leif please see below on Greta Sofia and thank you also.

I see Helena used the 1880 Census (is that only available on CD or is there an internet database?) and Britt Maria what led you to Ida Carolina Andersdotter, Carl Robert Asp and family??? You looked to Fliseryd in 1877? But what Torp? or ???

I am still looking for information on families of -

Greta Sofia 18321010 Misterhult

Last I have her is Döderhult AI:7 (1837-1852) Image 221 / page 1129 (middle of page - Maid)

Hi,

Marianne most helpful... Thank you! Something in writing (and confirmation) that Jonas' son became Jons-son not Jonas-son.

Wow back to Döderhult! Why did the families move so much? I have noticed this with other lines in my family?

Marianne mest hjälpsamma ... Tack!

Anders Fredrik 18290201 Misterhult
Greta Sofia 18321010 Misterhult

I found them again in Misterhult/Rastorp (Misterhult AI:3a (1823-1831) Image 169 / page 161)

Greta Sofia was born in 1832 which I can find in the birth register but I can not find Rastorp in Household examination in 1832 (the next book)?

I think since the last child is born trying to follow them any longer (find any more information) is like finding a needle in a haystack!?!? Am I wrong???

Thank you kindly for looking into my question, trying to assist me and your reply.

I actually had that information on Jonas and I appreciate your walking me through some of the process of going through the books.

I am looking for information on Jonas' children and their families - spouse and children, how do I find that information?

Like I mentioned in my previous communication for instance the information for one on Christina Maria Jonsdotter how do I find her marriage, her spouse and children.

Trying to get more information on Jonas Nilsson (April 15, 1792 Doderhult) family e.g. - son's and daughters.

To start off with Christina Maria Jonsdotter Apr 15, 1816 in Djupeträsk, Doderhult.

How would I find out about her life and family in the Parish Registers? I just don't see how to do it, I can find her Birth and Christening information because I have the Name, Date and Location but don't know how to go from there. How do I find her Spouse and her children in the register?

Hello,

Again... I understand Patronymic naming... Johnson - son of John.

My point was Jonas' children became Jons-son/dotter, why the dropping of the a it wasn't a transcription error and I've seen it before with other people in other places in my family. It isn't a big deal I just thought I'd put it out there (I'd ask).

@Marianne - Thank you for the information! No I am not worried that you gave me the wrong family. I was merely mentioning the point of the letters being dropped (in wonder) and asking if any more information following the children down further in their lives was available it would be appreciated.

Thanks, Ken Johnson

One more quick thing...

If the fathers name was Jonas why Jonsson not Jonasson same with Johan?

:-/

Because Jonas and Johan went by Jon? So the abbreviated name became the default by prevalence.

So they did go by Jons-son/dotter its interesting then that I am unable to find any others from that family down through the years, i.e. - Ancestry/Genealogy websites - family trees, immigration info... nothing!

I knew that his father was a Lustig but I didn't know what children (if any) held on to that last name, my link (to this family) did not hence my last name, but was not sure with the others and thought maybe that is why I am unable to find them.

@Marianne - I am familiar with the naming conventions, thank you!

@Odd - I did know about military name changing because of name commonality and that it had to do with a lot of things - personality, position, etc. but I didn't know that Lustig stood for funny  I'd say good to know... but maybe he was the company clown 8-/ like our old cartoon strip Beetle Bailey. It would of been Jonas' father 'Nils Andrake Eriksson' that had the title Lustig.

Still searching... any help in following Jonas Nilsson's children would be greatly appreciated.

« skrivet: 2009-11-23, 17:46 »
My ancestors brought this with them from Sweden and the older folks say it when we have large family gatherings before we eat.

I know it is a prayer thanking Jesus for the food and I/we know basically what it means.

When I look it up it makes no sense, the closest thing I can find is a Norwegian prayer (at least the first two lines).

I have shown it to a couple of Swedish people it doesn't quite make sense to them.

Amen

Why would this be so different then modern Swedish?

Could you give me an exact translation

and...

give me some history of this version?

Does anyone still say it this way?

Tack så mycket
Ken Jonsson

Eva,

Of course...

First off we know Otto was in Denver, Colorado and later had a land claim in eastern Colorado but the land was no good. So Otto came to be a hired hand on a Hedda Marie Hyg's homestead 3 miles north of Bertrand, NE.. A while after Otto was there Hedda's husband died of a fever. Otto ended up marrying Hedda and they had 2 children, one of them being my grandmother. Later in their lives they moved into the city of Bertrand where life was a little easier than being on the farm.

Thanks for the additional information!

I am coming to Sverige the end of May. I look forward to being in my Fatherland and/or Motherland (so to speak) actually both... because I am 100% Swedish all my ancestrers immagrated to the US in the late middle 1800's (1860's/1870's) and came to Nebraska and homesteaded and were farmers.

The people that do this are awesome!

Wow! You guys good!

I have to ask... How do you do this? I have been on Genline and can find people but it generally takes hours of research to find whole families and parents and such.

Thanks very much!

I guess I'll keep trying... I have a few more. I joined the forum and paid the dues I figured that was the least I could do.

Ángenä´mt!

Hej, I am trying to find information on Torpare Peter Gustaf or Gustaf Peter Jonsson who lived around the Oskarshamn, Sweden area. I have his birth year as 1825 (approx) and death as 1859 (approx). I have his children (Carl August Wilhelm, Matilda Elizabeth, Maria Sophia, Ella Christina and his wife Lena Lisa Aronsdotter) all from parish records at the Doderhult Parish. But I am unable to find anything certain on him. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, K. Johnson (Jonsson)
