Attached is the 1822 marriage record for the widow Lena Jacobsdotter and Anders Andersson in Forsheda parish, Jönköping. Can anyone help me understand this record? Forsheda (F) C:2 (1758-1830) Image 143 / Page 287 (AID: v33735.b143.s287, NAD: SE/VALA/00084) https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v33735?image=143&page=287®ister_collection=13®ister_post_aid=r13.p200378104It looks like it mentions the marriage banns dates and a signed document. But, it also mentions children (I think) and I don't understand that piece of it. This Jönköping marriage record is different from most other marriage records I've seen. I'm wondering if it will shed some light on why I never see her husband listed with her in the household records after their marriage, yet they had children together. Any help would be much appreciated! Vicki

Can anyone tell me what the circled word is on the attached household record? It relates to son Johannes b. 1800 whose name is crossed out further up on the list. He was the illegitimate son of Elin Jacobsdotter and who is now being mentioned specifically as Samuel's son (her husband's name). Have I misunderstood this? Johannes' birth record does not mention his father's name. Does this indicate that he is the father? Otherwise, why would it be noted?
Thanks very much for your help,
Vicki

Can anyone help with the attached household record for Hånger parish in Jönköping? Kärda (F) AI:3 (1772-1788) Image 79 / Page 141 (AID: v20706.b79.s141, NAD: SE/VALA/00207) https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v20706?image=79First, I am not sure what the place name is at the top of the page, but I think it might be Byagården Hånger. I believe the first name listed is Arfvid b. 1711. who was married to a widow Ingier Larsdotter b. 1718 (19 Dec) The next line has a note of some kind which I can't read and it is associated with the name Anders? Arvidsson b. 1748 (2 Aug) married to a Brita Jonsdotter1760 (14 Dec) Next is a daughter Ingier (presumably Arvidsdotter?) b 1752 with a son? lars b. 1788?? Next is a daughter Elin Arvidsdotter 5. 1756 (3 Sept) - she is also listed below with husband David Andersson 5. 1763 (19 Nov) Last is daughter Ingierd b. 1752 is listed again with a note following her name (which I can't read) I am not sure if I have this right, so any clarification or correction would be most welcome! Thanks very much, Vicki

Can someone live at Kånna Sockenstuga? An ancestor's sibling was listed there in the household records off and on throughout the 1790's until her death in 1827 The research I've done refers to a Sockenstugan as a meeting place or administrative building so i'm not sure if this person could have actually lived there.
Can anyone enlighten me on this?
Thanks!

Hi,
One of my ancestors was orphaned (along with a sister) in 1762 in Kånna parish in Kronoberg. He was age 10 and she was 6. There was no estate inventory and household records are not available until 1794 in Kånna - I don't know where they went. Would I start looking immediately after the death of the 2nd parent to search for a guardianship court case? Or where would I look for that? Does it normally take some time before the case is heard? Any direction would be appreciated.
thanks much!

Attached are copies from the first page and the last page of an estate inventory from 1771 for Anders Nilsson. I'm trying to determine whether or not this is the father of one of my ancestors, but I cannot read much of at all except that his widow's name was Karing with surname Nilsdotter?? If that is correct, it appears that both husband and wife have same patronymic surname (Nilsson/Nilsdotter). Also, there is a brother Lars Nilsson listed at the bottom of the last page - can you tell if this would be his (Ander's) brother or her (Karing's) brother? https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v76209?image=745&page=1171 Sunnerbo häradsrätt (G) FII:4 (1767-1771) Image 745 / Page 1171 (AID: v76209.b745.s1171, NAD: SE/VALA/01582) https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v76209?image=747&page=1171Sunnerbo häradsrätt (G) FII:4 (1767-1771) Image 747 / Page 1175 (AID: v76209.b747.s1175, NAD: SE/VALA/01582) Thanks so much for any help with this! Can anyone help me understand the circled part of the attached tax record, the part about Jöns and his wife? It looks like one of them has died and the other is overage (retired). After that, from 1689 through 1694 there are listed only Lars/wife, but no Jöns/wife. in 1695 the widow Johanna appears. There is a 1698 court case shows that a widow Johanna Swensdotter selling a parcel of land at Söregård Gashult to Johan Persson. From Sunnerbo Dombok 1698: "Johan Peerßon i Gaßhult kiöpt af änckan Johanna Swensdotter Ibm ¼ i Södragd Gaßhult för 23 dl.r Smt, bref Dat. d 16 octob: 1697 ntbl upbiudes 1 g.n:

It would seem to be Jöns, but I don't think that is what the 1687 record is saying, although I'm not really sure. And, there is also another short case from Sunnerbo Dombok 1678 that I don't understand at all - is Johanna standing in for someone? Can anyone help me with my translation for a couple lines from an old court case? My translation: The farmhand Niels Persson in Gashult, widow Swenborg Swensdotter in Fathult and soldier Per Kiellberg, and Niels Larsson make a claim to get their share from a sale of property. Their father's brother has a letter about the sale from 1698.... I already know that Niels Larsson's father is Lars Jönsson, so it would make sense that Niels Jönsson is his father's brother. 1) Who is the defendant in this case? Is it Niels Jönsson, the uncle? 2) Are the widow Swenborg and soldier Per Kiellberg being grouped together, possibly a widow and her son where Swenborg was married to another (yet unnamed) brother and Per is their son? 3) Are Niels Persson, Niels Larsson and the soldier cousins? Parterna blefvo omsider i vänlighet öfverens således at afl Lars Jönssons barn, afledna Per Jonssons son, dr Niels Persson och enkian Swenborg bekomma hvarsin 3ding af der 22 dlr som belöper 7 dlr 10 ? While researching my ancestor, Per Simonsson Groberg, I found a reference to his brother-in-law, Nils Larsson, on a page from Rolf Carlsson's website found at: http://www.ljungbykompani.se/000/023/456.htmThe reference I am referring to is found in this section: Levnadsbeskrivning Soldaten Född 1686 i Småland. Död 1758-10-16 i Groeryd, Torpa (G). Vid mönstring 1719 "sjuk i kvarteret" (gmr 1719). Vid avsked "åldrig och sjuklig får avsked" (gmr 1728). I cannot find the Sunnerbo court record book for 1722 on AD. Can anyone tell me where I can access it? I would like to understand what "Förenades med sin svåger Nils Larsson" is telling me. I think it is saying that Per Simonsson Groberg joined with his brother-in-law at the summer court session in 1722, but I'm trying to figure what he joined him with. Initially I thought it was military service, but Per Simonsson Groberg was already a soldier at that time. I am also hoping that there is more information about where Nils Larsson was from as I'm trying to learn where Per Simonsson Groberg's wife Susanna Larsdotter was from. Any help would be greatly apprciated, Thanks a lot, Vicki

Attached are four tax records (1704, 1705, 1707, 1715) showing the soldier Nils' wife. I'm trying to find out more about the soldier Nils Svensson but I don't find him listed in Centrala Soldatregistret under his patronymic name. It looks like he was a soldier on horseback but I am not sure what the first part of these listings say or where I could begin looking for him. The 1715 tax record looks a little different from the 1705 and 1707 records. What is the difference between these records? There is an unmarried Rytt Nils there in 1702. Nils Svensson died there in 1723 but was listed in the tax records through that time, so it appears he was a soldier at the time of his death, although his death appears unrelated to him military service. Since there are no patronymic names listed I am not sure if every Nils is the same man. Can anyone help me with the attached estate inventory?
Sunnerbo häradsrätts arkiv, Bouppteckningar och arvskiften, SE/VALA/01582/F II/8 (1785-1787)

28 December 1784 an estat3e inventory was taken following the death of “dannemann” Jonas Arvidsson in Kånna Arvidsgård (Kånna) on behalf of the child of his second marriage, daughter Karin, age 18 and daughter Maria, age 12 from his first marriage and his widow Märta Simonsdotter and son Pär age 4.

Tannåker-F,-G-C-1-1688-1788-Image-99-Page-191 https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v32417?image=993. 1701 tax record for Britta's parents in Ularp, Angelstad parish lists two similar names - a B? and a Bengt. The first line shows a B? and wife and a Nils and wife (I believe) and the second line shows a Bengt but doesn't indicate a wife or if any tax is paid - also there is a note which I'm not sure about. Is it possible the B? is the correct name instead of Bengt? ArkivDigital: Mantalslängder 1642-1820 Kronobergs län 1642-1820 (G) 43 (1701) Image: 1280 Page: 1621 https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v840167?image=1280&page=1619I hope this makes sense! I want to make sure that I'm not mixing up similar names (and thereby mixing up families) as I move forward. Especially on the tax record, these two "B" names look very similar to me. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again, Vicki

Attached is a 1723 tax record for Sickinge in Ljungby parish. Will someone confirm/correct my understanding of this record? There is a 4 year gap since the last available tax record so your help would be appreciated very much. The 1723 tax record lists: Widow Margareta Dräng Oluf, Carl(?) Attached is a 1695 tax record for Sickinge, Ljungby that I am having trouble understanding. My interpretation is that at Sickinge there are living the following people: Erik and wife and Jöns and wife (4 adults) (another) Jöns (with wife?) and a note which I can't understand - does it have to do with his wife? (another) Jöns which could be a soldier? 1695 tax Sickinge Ljungby Mantalslängder-1642-1820-Kronobergs-län-1642-1820-G-42-1695-Image-1660-Page-1273 https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v840166?image=1660&page=1271Thanks very much for any help with this, Vicki

Attached are two tax records I need your help with. The first is for 1718 in Sickinge, Ljungby. I cannot tell what the circled note says. I think the same note is repeated at the top of the tax item. I also need help interpreting the record itself. It appears that all the people are listed together as one family, is that correct? If so, there are 4 adults - would that be Jöns and wife and Märta(?) and ?. The 3 being Dr Anders and pig and a Dr J? Jönsson? It is very confusing. Who are the 4 and who are the 3? Can anyone help me with how to get started researching the court records? How do you decide where to begin? I am looking to learn the patronymic name of a Lars who first appears in the tax records for Miäla in Torpa in 1724 and is listed as Lars (with no patronymic name) through 1727. From 1729 -1731 there is a Lars Pårsson listed. I think that Lars Pårsson may be my ancestor, father of Per Larsson b. 1725 in Miäla and his brother Anders b. 1731 in Miäla. But, I don't know whether two Lars are the same person or not. I've not been able to find a marriage record for a Lars Pårsson and ? in Torpa that fits the place and time (also checking nearby parishes of Annerstad, Vrå and Odensiö). And, to complicate matters, there is a 1723 Torpa marriage record for a Lars Månsson from Skeen in Annerstad who married the daughter (Gunnil Giermundsdotter) of the previous Miäla taxpayer, Giermund, who is listed in the 1723 and 1724 Miäla tax records. Much later, from 1744-1746 there is a Lars Månsson listed on the Miäla tax records. The only children I have found who were born to a Lars between 1723 and 1731 in Miäla are: Per Larsson born 26 Jan 1725 (my ancestor): Torpa-G-C-1-1690-1747-Image-81-Page-157 https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v30192?image=81Anders Larsson born 30 Jul 1731 (Per’s brother as noted in Per’s estate inventory): Torpa-G-C-1-1690-1747-Image-87-Page-169 https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v30192?image=87So I don’t know which Lars is the father of Per Larsson – is it Lars Månsson or Lars Pårsson? Lars Pårsson seems more likely based on the naming of the two children and because he was listed at Miäla at the time that Anders was born in 1731. But, this is not certain. Now I would like to attempt the court records but have no idea where to begin. Should I start with the records around 1723 or 1724 (around the time Lars first appeared in the tax records)? I am totally lost here but am willing to learn how to search through these records. Do you think this too much to post on the Swedish Torpa board? Any ideas on how and where to begin would be very helpful and very much appreciated! Thank you so much for any help with this, Vicki

First, I apologize if this is something more than I should put here, but I'll give it try in case someone is willing to take to the time to read through it all. I've to make it as concise as possible, so I appreciate any suggestions you can offer. I am trying to determine which Lars is the father of my ancestor Pehr Larsson and his brother Anders Larsson who were born in Miäla (Torpa parish) in 1725 and 1731 respectively. These are the only two siblings I have found for this family. It may be that they were from somewhere else and that there were more children earlier, but I have not found any children born after Anders. Birth records Pehr Larsson born 26 Jan 1725 Miäla, son of Lars, mother not listed - who is his father? Torpa-G-C-1-1690-1747-Image-81-Page-157 https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v30192?image=81Anders Larsson born 30 July 1731, son of Lars, mother not listed Torpa-G-C-1-1690-1747-Image-87-Page-169 https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v30192?image=87Household records for Miäla 1717-1723 On page 61 there is listed a Pehr (age 67) with wife Ingier (age 54) and son Jonas – may or may not be related to Per Larsson (maybe his grandfather? May be a stretch) Torpa-G-AI-1-1717-1722-Image-41-Page-61.jpg https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v19646?image=41On page 62 in Miala is listed a Giermund (age 57) with wife (age 33) a daughter Ingier (age 15 - crossed out with a note having to do with Skeen I think) and a son Giermund (erased?). Further down on the page are listed the names Lars and wife Gunnil with no additional detail (no children). I believe that Giermund and Ingier are Gunnil’s parents. Torpa-G-AI-1-1717-1722-Image-42-Page-63.jpg https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v19646?image=42Marriage record If the parents were married in Torpa (and I know that is a big if), there are a couple possibilities: The following marriage could explain the family’s connection to Miäla. However, the names Måns and Gunnil don’t seem to fit into the naming pattern (although I only know of two children: Per and Anders for this family). It would also fit with the timing of their first child Per. 23 Dec 1723 marriage between Drangan Lars Månsson from Skeen (Annerstad parish) and Pigan Gunnil Giermundsdotter in Miäla. Torpa-G-C-1-1690-1747-Image-98-Page-191 https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v30192?image=98This Lars would seem to explain the son named Per but the marriage took place at least a year after son Per was born (which is possible I realize) but there is no direct connection to Miäla. 1726 marriage between Drangan Lars Pehrsson of Abbeshult (Vrå parish) and Pigan Ingeborg Johansdotter in Gashult (Torpa parish) Torpa-G-C-1-1690-1747-Image-99-Page-193 https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v30192?image=99I also realize there may have been more than one marriage here – there is a six year age difference between the siblings. Maybe there are 2 different fathers named Lars? Tax records for Miäla – not sure how to tell if they are married, it seems only the husbands are listed 1723 Giermund 1724 Sven and Lars, Giermund and Gumme 1725 Sven, Lars and Jonas (or Jöns) 1726 Sven, Lars and p. Ingierd 1727 Sven, Lars, Gumme 1728 Sven, Bengt, Per Nilsson (there is a 1727 marriage record for a Pehr Nilsson who married174 an Ingier Giermundsdotter in Miäla -probably the sister of Gunnil Giermundsdotter). 1729 Sven, Lars Persson (this is the first time a last name is given) 1730 Sven w/daughter Brita, Lars Persson 1731 Sven Bengtsson, p. Kirstin, Lars Persson 1732 -1740 Lar is listed without a last name 1744 Sven Bengtsson, Lars Månsson (wife crippled) and son Per (under age 15) The Per Larsson whose father I am trying to identify would have been 19 years old in 1744. 1745 Sven Svensson, Lars Månsson (wife crippled) and son Per. And a Jöns Larsson. 1746 Sven Svensson, Oluf Svensson, p. Kierstin, Lars Mansson (with a note – did he move out?, and a Jöns Larsson. Mantalslängder-1642-1820-Kronobergs-län-1642-1820-G-53-1746-Image-2440-Page-977 https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v840177?image=2440&page=9771747 No Lars is listed. Death record I found the following record (is this the death record for the wife of Lars Månsson?) dated 28 Mar 1747, buried 6 April: Torpa-G-C-1-1690-1747-Image-121-Page-233 https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v30192?image=121Does anyone have any suggestions or comments for what they feel is likely or unlikely here? At first glance, it seemed like the Lars Mansson who married Gunnil Giermundsdotter was the likely father based on marriage date and timing of birth of Per in January 1725. But, the first time Lars Mansson is listed with full name in the tax records there was in 1744 (not that an earlier Lars (with no last name) could not have been him also). That a Lars Persson appeared in the tax records there for three years (1729-1731) is also confusing as Per’s brother Anders was born in 1731. It’s a head scratcher. 😊 Not sure where to go next with this as I’ve looked through all the records I can think of. Maybe it is another one I’ll have to set aside for now. But, I’m open for suggestions! Thanks so much for your help! Vicki

I'm trying to locate Pehr/Peter and Christian Anström/er (or possibly Jöransson) in the General Muster rolls for the Jönköping Regiment around 1739-1742 or so. A google search led me to the Source: General Muster - Jönköping Regiment 372 (1741-1742), Image 5 and page 368 where a (Sergeant) Peter Anström is supposedly listed. However, I don't find his name listed there. His commanding officer Per Silfversparre is listed but not Peter.
I also "paged" through most of the 1739 muster roll for the Jönköping Regiment but found nothing so far. If anyone can help me locate Peter I would really appreciate it!

Can anyone help with the attached household exam record for 1718-1723? The household record beginning with her birth year is not available. I'm trying to figure out whether all the people listed on the left-side are part of that same family or not. Two of the names are crossed out - maybe they moved somewhere else and were unrelated? Might the last 4 names be their children? A general question on how tax classifications are determined:
Is it possible for an older son who continues living and working on a farm with his parents at, for example, age 29 or 30, to be listed as dr Gumme, instead of son Gumme and taxed as drang (farmhand) instead of son (bachelor)? Does it make a difference?
Any insight would be much appreciated!
Thank you,

I have a question on the attached tax record in regard to the name. It looks like Jön - could it be Johan? This is different from other records that show him as Joh or Johan. I've been trying unsuccessfully to find tax records in Bolmsö parish (Jönköping) for the farm/village called Jonsbo. I have not been able to find it in any of the years I've checked (from 1701 to 1718) and even some random records in the 1730's and 1740's. The handwriting has been a challenge in the early records especially, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
If anyone can locate Jonsbo on any tax record between 1702-1718 I would be very appreciative, then, hopefully, I will be able to find it on the tax records for other years. I'm trying specifically to locate Johan Staffansson and his wife Ingeborg Andersdotter whose children were all born between 1702 and 1717 in Jonsbo. I believe I should be able to find them there if I can find Jonsbo.
Thanks so much for any help with this,

I am curious if it is possible that in the late 1600's/early 1700's that some of the properties that were in one parish were included in the books of the other. My question is specifically about Berga, Kronoberg and Vittaryd, Kronoberg. I am having trouble locating people/places in the tax records for Vittaryd parish that I think should be there. For example, I'm trying to locate the soldier Sven Bengtsson Siöberg and his wife (married in 1717). Their children, born 1718, 1720, 1723 and 1726 were all born in Torset (modern day translation), Vittaryd while he was still a soldier. I would think that there would be a tax record for, at least, the wife during that time period. I also don't see a Torset listed in Vittaryd, but there are several Torsets in Berga. At this point, I feel like I'm looking in the wrong place for their tax records. Or maybe I just have the place name wrong?? Attached is a copy of the birth record of his youngest child b. 1726 so you can see his parents names and birthplace. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Attached is the beginning of the 1816 estate inventory for Ingebor Svensson. Even though it is very neatly written, I cannot understand all of it. My very basic understanding is that the estate inventory was taken at Malmaryd on 1st July (1816) after the death of Ingebor Svensson. It states that she is leaving behind a husband, Jacob Svensson, and grown children. They had 7 children together: sons Sven and Petter, daughters Britta, Eling, Kattrina, Anna, and Lena. It looks like the property? stays with widower Jacob Svensson but there is a contingency? I don't know - it was quite confusing. I know this is a lot of information but I want to try to figure out who Catharina's mother was - all I know for sure is her first name is Elin. I believe that my ancestor Catharina’s mother’s name was Elin Jacobsdotter – is that a fair assumption? I also believe that Elin Jacobsdotter is the mother of all the children. Samuel Larsson and Elin Jacobsdotter were married in Angelstad in 1801. All the children, with the exception of Johannes b. 1800 were born within the 1801 marriage date and 1839 death dates. . Attached is a copy of a 1745 tax record from Vrå for which I have a couple different questions: Kronobergs-läns-landskontor-G-EV-2-1745-Image-4710-Page-1181 https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v400710?image=4710&page=1179The items circled in yellow relate to my ancestor, Anders Nilsson, at Stråhult. The items circled in purple relate to another Anders Nilsson, at Singsjö. 1. Would properties located next to each other usually appear next to each other on the tax records? (they would be close neighbors)? 2. It looks like one Anders Nilsson is married and one is not- so I am assuming they are two different people. Is that correct? (The reason I ask is because an Anders Nilsson from Singsjö is the first witness listed for the baptism of the first grandchild - so I first thought it must be Anders Nilsson the grandfather but maybe it is Anders Nilsson the neighbor!) These two Anders Nilsson both continue to be listed at the same properties continuously at least through the time this first grandchild was born- it is very possible they are neighbors. Very confusing. I hope you can understand my question. The grandchild's birth record is found at: https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v29940?image=89Vrå-G-C-1-1701-1823-Image-89-Page-167 3. What does the circled note say? I'd like to be to clarify that these two Anders Nilssons are separate individuals, that they are not the same individual who was taxed on two different properties (I don't even know if that was possible). If anyone can help with these questions, I'd be most appreciative. Thanks so much, Vicki Cihla

Was it just a coincidence that the 2 men associated with 507/93 had the same name? Thanks for any help with this, Vicki Cihla

Attached is a the 1716 GMR for Måns Andersson Weckman/Beckman. (Måns is listed on the Centrala Soldatregistret with both of these names): http://soldat.elektronikhuset.it/dbrecord.sv.aspx?id=288931716 GMR Generalmönsterrullor--Kronobergs-regemente-G-329a-1716-Image-273 https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v46666?image=273I can understand the easier things, such as: Rote: Tommaryd Name: Corp Måns Andersson (B)eckman Soldier Nr: 94 Age: 30 Years in Service: 7 Province: Smaland It looks like there are two additional columns: one describing the equipment he was provided and the other contains general notes. Only the first of these is filled in. Was he an infantryman? Does this describe the equipment he received/had? Just looking at the two records you can see where the Weckman/Beckman came from. 1716 GMRGeneralmönsterrullor--Kronobergs-regemente-G-330-1717-Image-307 https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v46668?image=307It follows the same format as previous year but, again, I can understand the easier things, such as: Rote: Tommaryd Name: Corp Måns Andersson Weckman Soldier Nr: 93 (this changed from 94 the previous year) Age: 31 Years in Service: 8 Province: Smaland The notes seem again to mention his equipment but I cannot tell if there is anything else. I have followed Måns Andersson from Torpa parish to Hinneryd and subsequently back to Torpa. The 1717-1722 Torpa household records noted that he moved to Hinneryd parish. I have followed him in the tax records in those places from 1717 to 1744 when his farm was eventually taken over by his son-in-law. Great fun! This one is for sure my soldier! Now I'm hoping to learn about his military service. Any help from anyone who can help me to understand more about his life in the military would be really appreciated. Thank you so much, Vicki Cihla

I am trying to locate a court record for a "pension agreement" between a father and son in Odensjö, Kronoberg. On ArkivDigital, I found the court records are accessible under Sunnerbo häradsrätt by year. The description for this is in Swedish but I believe I am in the correct place to start.
Unfortunately, the years 1749/1750 are missing from the list of available court records for Kronoberg.
There is another set of books called Göta Hovrätt - Advokatfiskalen Kronobergs län - where I can access the following:
Göta Hovrätt - Advokatfiskalen Kronobergs län EVIIBAA:6431 for the year 1750 (there is not one for 1749 for Kronoberg)
The description for these records is also in Swedish:
"Advokatfiskalens uppgifter vid Göta hovrätt var att vara kronans ombudsman i hovrätten, som allmän åklagare, som granskare av underrätternas verksamhet m.m Här finns bla. renoverade domböcker, småprotokoll från Häradsrätter, Rådhusrätter, lagmansrätter etc.
Vi har valt att dela upp Advokatfiskalens arkiv efter län och årtal eftersom det är tusentals volymer i denna arkivbildare. Annars skulle det bli helt oöverskådligt."
Can anyone tell me if these records might also contain a "pension agreement" or are these not the records I should be using for this type of record?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks so much,
Vicki Cihla

I have found a birth record that I believe is one I am looking for but would welcome any thoughts on my assessment.
The birth record I had been trying to locate is for a Lars Pehrsson born in 1720, however no place of birth was indicated (this is according to the Vrå household records for 1788-1802 where he raised his family). His marriage record indicated he was living in Vrå at the time of his marriage in 1767. I found no birth record for a Lars Pehrsson in Vrå that fit.
Further research led me to his previous marriage record, which indicated he was living at Groeryd, Torpa at the time of his first marriage. I searched the birth records around 1720 and found a birth record for a Lars dated 10 July 1721 in Gashult, Torpa. It was the only match that was even close. There are no household records for Vrå available on arkivdigital prior to 1788. This birth record indicates he was born to a soldier Pehr Groberg (I previously asked for help on this birth record). (The distance between Groeryd, Torpa and Gashult, Torpa Sweden per internet search is 7.4 kilometers, a 10 minute drive via Hinneryd Tallåsvägen so it seems possible that Per Simonsson Groberg is his father). I would like to try to determine whether this Lars Pehrson is the Lars Pehrsson that I'm looking for. It seems so, but would really value an outside opinion.
There is no estate inventory after his death (there was one done after his first wife died only).
I would welcome any thoughts on this or any other ideas on what I can check.
Thanks so much for your help,
Vicki Cihla

Can someone confirm/correct my general understanding of the top portion of the estate inventory that is attached? I've circled a phrase that I don't understand so would welcome help with this. I've also circled the following 4 names and would like to confirm/learn the roles they played in the estate inventory in relation to the children (where they all representatives?): 1. Jonas Gudmundsson - I think he represented the 15 year old son Johannes Gudmundsson. Jonas is a relative 2. Pär Andersson - I think he represented the 28 year old daughter Johanna Gudmundsdotter. 3. Olaf Pärsson - What is his connection to the 25 year old daughter Catharina Gudmundsdotter? 4. Johannes Nilsson - I don't know what his role is - was it also related to Catharina? This is my basic understanding: On 1826, 29 Sept, an estate inventory was taken for Gudmen Charlson (Gudmund Carlsson) who died 9 July. He left behind a widow and their 6 children, 4 sons: Lars 33 years old, son Charl 23 years old, son Anders 20 years old, son Johannes 15 years old, represented by Jonas Gudmundsson in Bägaryd, older daughter Johanna 28 years old was represented by Pär Andersson in Groeryd and other daughter Katarina 25 years old - who are Olaf Pärsson in Miäla and Johannes Nilsson in Balkeryd? The first two people on the list are related to the children. I'm trying to understand, since the daughters are aged 25 and 28, if they were being assigned a guardian if they were unmarried or if there is any indication of their marital status. I have not seen any evidence of them being married at that time. Would each child have a separate representative or guardian? One other thing - his widow was Kiersten Larsdotter but I don't see her name on the first page. Is it there and I just missed it? She is named on the last page of the inventory at bottom of page 925 located at: https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v76235?image=481. https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v76235?image=479 (It is located at the top of the right hand page) Sunnerbo-häradsrätt-G-FII-30-1826-1827-Image-479-Page-921 If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it. Can someone tell me if I'm on the right track with this 1776 Estate Inventory? I also have a couple associated general questions. Why was an inventory taken after her death? Usually it is taken after the husband dies (or it seems that way). Her husband, Jonas Arvidsson, was still living. Why wouldn't he be listed as the surviving spouse? Did I miss it? Does she have 3 children or 3 sons? It looks like she has 2 daughters, aged 10 and 8. I am not sure who the child is who is 3 years old. It also looks like there is mention of mother's brother(s)?, the children's uncles? I think they may have assisted with the inventory - Joran Ericsson and Anders Ericsson listed on the last page could be her brothers. I found an estate inventory that I need some help with. Specifically, on page 272, I'm trying to figure out the headings for a list of names in two places on page 272 (see attached). What are these lists of names? Also, on the bottom of the last page, there is a note, not sure if it is related to this inventory or not. Any help would be appreciated with these 2 things. https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v76210?image=153Sunnerbo-häradsrätt-G-FII-5-1772-1775-Image-153-Page-272.jpg https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v76210?image=154Sunnerbo-häradsrätt-G-FII-5-1772-1775-Image-154-Page-274.jpg So far, from the first page of the inventory, I know that the inventory was taken on June 26, 1772 after the death of Lars Pehrsson. He left a widow Elin Andersdotter and 2 young daughters (Bengta, age 3 1/2 years and Kierstin, age 1 year). From this I learned two of his brothers, Nils Pehrsson from ?, and Anders Pehrsson from Torpa, assisted with the inventory. Maybe the people listed will help determine more of the family relationships, but I'm not sure what these lists represent. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks so much, Vicki Cihla

Can someone confirm what I think this marriage record says and help me to figure out the place names in Torpa that are listed? I think it says: 1st November (1741) were married Per Jönsson in ? and Karin Månsdotter in ? Also - how should I translate Drang. and Pig. ? - does it refer to them both being married for the first time, or does it more refer to their status - ie. servant, farmhand, etc.? Also, are the place names farm names or village names? https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v30192?image=102Torpa-G-C-1-1690-1747-Image-102-Page-199 Thanks so much for any help with this, Vicki Cihla

I am looking for an 1810 death record for a Kierstin Persdotter in Vigåsa, Annerstad - she would be age 52. There is no patronymic name included on this death record for a Kierstin, but the age given at time of death was 52. The year 1810 is listed on the household record for Vigåsa as the year of her death, it is the only one listed in 1810 that matches (but without her patronymic name). Can anyone read and confirm that the place of death is Vigåsa (I think that is what it says)? And, can anyone tell me what the cause of death was? Today I found an estate inventory record that appears to contain a lot of useful information about places and family relationships to the person who died. I already have a lot of information about these people but want to cross check what I have and add to it as required for further research. Because it is so difficult to read the handwriting, and because I'd like to learn as much as I can from this information, I am at a loss as to how to ask for help. I'm not including the document here because I am not looking for someone to translate it for me. How can I get help without asking too much?. Should I ask questions about individuals separately and offer what I already know? Should I ask about the names I see that I don't know anything about? Should I say what I think it might say?
Any help on this would really be appreciated,
Vicki Cihla

I need help with a birth record that is very difficult to read. I can't tell if the record is partially crossed out or if some of it is coming through from the other side of the page. The child's name may be either Elin or Erik. The birth date is January 20 The parents may be Erik and Segrid. A copy is attached but it is pretty useless. If you look on AD, it is the last entry (#3 for 1744) on page 114. If anyone can offer any help with this, I'd really appreciate it. https://app.arkivdigital.se/volume/v29940?image=62Vrå-G-C-1-1701-1823-Image-62-Page-115

Can someone help me with the names on a 1796 tax register for Mäste, Vrå, Kronoberg. I believe the first name is Nils Eriksson followed by a Nils. The third name I am hoping is Lars(?) Pårsson followed by Elin. Lars Pårsson (married to Kierstin Eriksdtr) is listed, beginning in the 1788 - 1792 household exam records but during that time I do not see his name on the tax records. Lars has a daughter Elin, born 1768. Nils Eriksson is listed on every tax record from 1788 through this record (1796). Can someone help me decipher the categories of assets listed on an estate inventory. The handwriting is extremely difficult so I all really want to understand is what asset categories are listed. For example, I know it lists copper and iron and all I can make out from the first paragraph (at the beginning of the the inventory section) is the farm name with value 400. Can anyone tell me if I’m on the right track with starting a translation of the attached estate inventory? It is very difficult to read, especially the last part of it. Any help with letters or words would be helpful. I have a dictionary but I cannot tell what some of the letters/words are. Any help would be very much appreciated – this is my first attempt at an estate inventory and it appears to be very interesting. I’m also trying to understand if this inventory was taken due to the death of both the husband and wife in 1789? And where does his inventory end? It looks like it is several pages long, not sure. The descriptive title for Sten Jönsson changed on this household record to what I think is either "inhyses" meaning a person living in someone else's house without paying rent or "inhyseshjon" meaning a (poor) person living in someone else's house. without paying rent. Sometimes ordered by the local community council (sockenstämma) to care for poor people. I am not sure which - can anyone tell what it says? Also, something else has been crossed out that I cannot read. Can anyone tell what it said before being crossed out?

In following the family of Bengt Persson and Karin Nilsdotter through several household records between 1810 and 1847, I can see that they were a very, very poor family. I need some help with the notes I've outlined on the attached 4 records, hoping i sheds more light on their lives.
1 Annerstad-G-AI-5-1810-1812-Image-102-Page-179 - this is the first indication that they are poor - I can't read the first line but think it references a place in Skatelof?? and I'm not sure if "utfattig" (very poor) relates to the line above it or not.
2 Annerstad-G-AI-7-1818-1824-Image-143-Page-273 - these notes are difficult to read - I think the first line re-iterates their poverty but I have no idea what the references listed relate to - could these be legal references (court cases??). I have been told that sometimes that information regarding court cases are sometimes listed on the household exam records but I am not sure what that looks like).
3 Annerstad-G-AI-9-1831-1838-Image-207-Page-401 - this one lists comments for each family member starting with Bengt Persson followed by wife and children. I know the first line refers to him as a beggar but am not sure about the rest.
4 Annerstad-G-AI-11-1844-1850-Image-242-Page-23 - this record has just a short note - maybe an abbreviation?? Not sure what it means - but the does show that the widower Bengt Persson died in 1847, maybe it's related to that?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Your insight is always helpful!
Thank you,
Vicki Cihla

Does anyone know anything about the life of Samuel Hansson prior to 1777? Where was he born???
The earliest record I have for him is his marriage to Brita Ericksdtr in 1777 in Annerstad. Brita was from Hallarp (in Annerstad) and I am trying to discover where Samuel Hansson was from/born. His birth would be sometime between 1743 – 1750 most likely.
The earliest record I found for him was his 1777 marriage to Brita Ericksdtr that I obtained from the 2002 KGF database as follows (I have since found the digital copy also):
Vigseldatum: 1777 Forsamling: Annerstad Brudgummen: Titel: Drangen Fornamn: Samuel Efternamn: Hansson Bostad: Alder: Anmarkning: Bruden: Titel: Pigan Fornamn: Brita Efternamn: Ericksdotter Bostad: (Hallarp) Alder: Postnr: 8982 County: Kronoberg Parish: Annerstad Country: Sweden Record Type: Vigsel (Marriage) Year Range: 1751 - 1814 GID Number: 447.18.16800 Volume: CI:2 Roll/Fiche Number: IJ-26 Page Number: 309
This is what I know about Samuel Hansson:
All of Samuel Hansson’s 9 children (that I aware of) were born in Torpa. Five were born at Häggeshult Södergård, two were born at Stackarp and two at Forssa.
The household exam records follow the family throughout the years as follows:
• 1784-1788 Häggeshult Södergård, Torpa • 1796-1800 Forssa, Torpa • 1801-1805 Forssa, Torpa but moved to Rånte in 1803 (This was noted on this household exam record and explains why Samuel is listed on two different household records for the years 1801-1805 – this explanation thanks to a generous member of the forum!) • 1801-1805 Rånte, Torpa • 1806-1809 Forssa, Torpa (notes that he was poor (translated by member of forum!) • 1810-1814 Rånte, Torpa (notes that Samuel Hansson is poor and living in Måsseboda (again, translated by member of forum!) • 1815-1821 Rya Backstugen, Torpa (notes indicate he is poor, his wife Brita died in 1818) • 1822-1826 Rya Backstugen, Torpa (this household exam record lists birthplace (it looked like either Bolmsö or Unnaryd (Södra or Norra) – but I could not find a birth record for Samuel Hansson at any of those places in that estimated timeframe of his birth.) • 1827-1832 household records show that the widower Samuel Hansson died in 1830. His birthplace is listed as Skatelöf on this record! But, again, I found no record of his birth there either.
His death records show he died poor on Christmas Day in 1830.
I’ve checked (and rechecked) the Torpa and Annerstad birth records but could not find him there either.
I truly appreciate the help I have received thus far, and if anyone has any information on the life of this Samuel Hansson prior to 1777 or who has any other suggestions as to where I could look to discover his place of birth, I would really like to hear from you.
Thanks for your help!

Ulf Svensson has kindly confirmed that I have read the marriage record for Samuel Hansson correctly! Now I have further questions about Samuel Hansson - in regard to where he was born. I followed the family through the Torpa household exam records, but was having trouble locating a birth record for Samuel Hansson - nothing in Torpa (where they raised their family) or Annerstad (where they were married). I finally found a clue in the last 2 household records for the (widower) Samuel Hansson, both records are attached. I cannot figure out what is written for his birth location on the 1822-1826 record, but the 1827-1832 record seems to read Skatelöf. The final record, if I'm reading it correctly, also indicates he was very poor.
Assuming now that he was born in Skatelöv, the only birth record I can find that is close to the 1748 birth year listed on most of the family household exam records, was in 1750 in Krokstorp (or Krogstorp) in Skatelöv. A copy of that birth record is attached. Can you confirm my translation that the child's name is Samuel Hansson and the parents are listed as Hans Samuelsson and Elizabeth Månsdtr? I find the name Hans particularly difficult to decipher. His mother's patronymic name is also difficult for me.
Thanks so much for your help!
