Döderhult / Notation in 1807-1822 Husförhörslängd
« skrivet: 2021-10-25, 02:03 »
Thank you for all the prior assistance with understanding various entries in household examination books.

I am wondering what the note is in Döderhults Husförhörslängd, NAD: SE/VALA/00065/A I/3 (1807-1822), bild 206, sida 398, next to the entry for Jonas Nygren (1793), written diagonally going up. Does it indicate his ability to read a portion of Nya testamentet?

Thank you again for the appreciated help!
John

Thank you very much for helping me to understand this notation.

Looking at Oskarshamns kyrkoarkiv, Husförhörslängder 1854-1861 (AD: Oskarshamn AI:1, Bild 250, Sida 479, or NAD: SE/VALA/00293/A I/1, Bild 247, Sida 479), I can't make out one notation relating to Carl Bergstrand (född 1834), listed in the middle of the page:

To the very far right of the record, it appears as if the entry indicates "marinsoldat." Does this appear to relate to Bergstrand, and if so, what is the meaning of the initials ("s.d." or "f.d."?) just before that notation? I take it that a marinsoldat would be a solider in service with the navy?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Best regards,

I recently came across two related pages in two different volumes of the Smedby household examination records, and wondered if anyone might be able to explain their precise meaning.

Both are lists of male sailors who moved away from Smedby during a particular time period, but they are both recorded in seemingly
strange places, and I can't tell why the priests made these lists how and where they did, separate from the typical Utflyttningslängder.

The first is in Smedby Husförhörslängder, NAD: E/VALA/00343/A I/6 (1861-1878), bild 71, sida 64.

The second is in Smedby Husförhörslängder, NAD: SE/VALA/00343/A I/7 (1879-1899), bild 142.

The lists are not identical, but they overlap in content considerably (the 1861-1878 list's entries 7 through 30 correspond with the 1879-
1899 list's entries 1 through 17).

Does anyone know what these lists are, why they are recorded where they were, and why there are two different versions? The 1879-1899 Household examination list is placed at the very end of that book, and it seems to record moves out between 1850-1871, so why would it be recorded at the back of a Household examination years later? And the 1861-1878 Household examination list is also placed at the very end of a section recording entirely different information, and in the title entry at the top, it references only 1867 and 1868, which doesn't seem to correspond to the years when the sailors actually moved away.

I am interested in what people, with much more knowledge than I have, think about these two lists of sailors from Smedby, located in unusual places in the household examinations.

Tacksam för all hjälp!

Additionally, on the following page, Bild 59, Sida 6, at the very top of page 6, can anyone tell what is written for the origin places of Olof Gustafson (age 30) and Annecka Hansdotter (age 25)?

Tack på förhand!

Looking at SE/ULA/11098/A I/4 b, Bild 165, Sida 148, the location is listed at the top of the page as Dalkarlsberget Grufvefält, I believe. What is indicated just below that, also at the top of the page, referencing a location and then "boda" and perhaps "Torparen"?

Thanks for any help!

Gällstad / Help Translating 1820 Utflyttning Record
« skrivet: 2019-07-24, 03:15 »
Hej,

On the very last entry on the attached 1820 moving out record (at the very bottom), where Caisa Jönsdotter moves out from Prästgården to Länghem on 7 November, can anyone help with:

1. What is the remark, faintly written, to the far right of her moving out record (mentioning 1819)?

2. Is Caisa noted as having a middle name, perhaps Lisa?

Tack på förhand för hjälp!

Looking at the notations relating to Håkan and Ann in Köpmanstorp Skattegården in the 1825-1836 household examination below, can anyone explain for me:

1. What is written next to Håkan under Christend Kunsk Utantill?

2. What is written next to Håkan and Ann under Inflyttad och Utflyttad?

3. What is written under Anmärkningar for each (I can see that Anna is noted as Bräcklig, but can't make out the other notations)?

Many thanks for any assistance translating those remarks!

With appreciation,
John

I can't quite make out the notation relating to Eric Abrahamsson, to the far right of his name, which appears to note a move out. It looks like "Torp at (Sexman?) Lars Jonson," but that's just a guess. Any ideas are most welcome. Thank you!

Döderhult / Help with Remarks on 1822-1837 Husförhörslängd

In this entry, I can't make out the notation directly above the reference to the family moving to Bråhult in 1837 (directly across from the entry for Sara). Any ideas most welcome!

Also, is the comment just above Jonas, "förstår bibeln," and if so, is that a common notation, as I don't recall seeing it very often?

Thank you for your help with translating!

Bottnaryd / Help with Location in Bottnaryd
« skrivet: 2019-07-14, 04:16 »
Hello!

Can anyone tell me what is the notation to the left of Lars' name in the household examinations for 1760-1768 and 1776-1783 below? I believe it's the location Lökna, but it's difficult to tell for certain. Any thoughts are most welcome, and thank you!

In the 1749 marriage record below, is Lars Andersson's occupation listed as "under bergsmannen," and if so, what does the "under" signify? Is that perhaps an apprentice miner?

Also, I read Anna Larsdotter's place of dwelling as Elfhyttan, but am not sure that is correct.

I also just can't make out Lars' place of dwelling. It looks like it ends with --hyttan, but doesn't appear similar to any of the historical locations I can find in Nora. They later live in Darlkarlshyttan, so that could be what's written. However, if so, that's a difficult to read "D"!

Any thoughts on those three issues is very much appreciated.

Looking at this 1766-1799 Household Examination from Döderhult, I can't make out the location where it is noted the family moved to from Södervyk, Djurhultsmåkla/Djurhultsmåla. Does that say Björnhult, right next to the name of the head of household, as that's the closest approximation I can find in the area? It looks more like something "-anshult," but I can't find a location that ends with that in the area. Many thanks for any ideas.

Smedby / Help Translating Parts of 1841 Death Record
« skrivet: 2019-06-30, 03:43 »
The death record below for Christina Nordström, wife of Häradsskräddare Johan Bergstrand (died of Lungsot, Tuberculosis), is not clear to me on two issues, and I'd greatly appreciate any help.

First, the dates of death and burial might be mixed up with the next listing for Brita Johanna, based on the lines drawn on the page. Note the doted line connecting the 13th death of the year to the December 11 and 13 entries, and the solid line connecting the dates of December 30 and January 6 to Christina. Does she appear to have died on December 11 (buried on December 17) or did she instead die on December 30 (buried on January 6)? I wonder if the listings are in reverse order based on those two lines written in the record.

Second, what is written immediately after Christina Nordström's name, as I can't understand that notation?

Many thanks for any assistance with this interesting record of an ancestor.

Best,

Can someone please help me understand parts of this 1783 death record for Eric Frantsson from Gyttorp, Nora bergsförsamling? It appears that he died of Bröstsjuka and was buried on May 4, but I cannot understand the other entries, including his occupation (which looks like a mining job, beginning with "Gruv-") and the precise date of death, as that entry doesn't look like a date to me. His marital status should be änkling, so that appears to be an older spelling of that word. Any help understanding this record is most appreciated. Many thanks!

The household register below shows Klockaren Johannes Bergstrand and his family living in Skede in the Parish House (Socknestugan), which makes sense given his position in the church. I can see that children Johan, Jonas Peter and Johanna all moved out, with dates and destinations noted, but can someone tell me what the note in the right hand column says about the rest of the family moving out, I believe in 1825? Also, this is perhaps a silly question, but is Bysegor a location in Skede, as I cannot find any, or is that "Bys egor," and if so, what does that mean? Thank you for the assistance!

The attached 1870 Stockholm tax roll record for Carl Alfrid Bergstand and family makes reference to "Beakbrännaren," and "Bergmesttarsgriden No. 1."

Hej,

I am looking at an 1872 move-in record for a Johan Carl Johansson, who moved from Kinna to Fritsla. There is a long entry just before his name, on the prior page, next to a young girl named Agnes. It looks as if it might reference Johan Carl Johansson in the note, although I cannot quite tell. Can anyone help me with a translation of this rather unusual looking notation for Agnes, to determine if Agnes is connected to Johan Carl in some way? I have attached a close up view of the relevant section of the page with Agnes at the bottom. Tack så mycket. John

Hej,

Hej,

Thank you very much to any one who can help! -John

Hi,

Hi Everyone,

I can't read a particular word in a household record for one of my ancestors. In Nora bergsförsamling AI:4b (1743-1752) f157 (AID v51979.b163.s157), for the first entry (household of Lars Anderson), the children Petter, Lars and Anna all seem to be indicated as children of the mother only (as opposed to Margeta and Marina, who are children of this couple). Am I reading that correctly? That would make sense, since the head of this household, Lars was born in 1711, while the fru is born in 1704 and Anna (the oldest child) born in 1727. Thank you for any guidance you can provide on that notation! Best regards, John
