Jan,
I believe that this is the correct Peter I Hultberg. Evidently they marry in Canada and come to Minnesota abt 1916. According to the census records and the obituaries of both Peter and his wife Carrie Selma, there are not children of their marriage.
I would be very much interested in knowing this Peter's ancestry.
His wife, Carrie Selma Hiller, is born 18 Jul 1898 in Norway, Dickinson, Michigan and dies 25 August 1993 in Florence, Florence, Wisconsin in a nursing home.
Peter I Hultberg, died 18 September 1983 in Kingsford, Dickinson, Michigan in a nursing home.
They are both buried in the Norway Township Cemetery just outside of Norway, Dickinson, Michigan.
(Norway, Iron Mountain, and KIngsford are small cities located on the Michigan - Wisconsin border.

Yes, that is where I got some of my information.
My Robert Roberg is married to Amanda Hiller, born in Norway, Michigan. Her father, Nicholous Hiller is mentioned in the Aug 11, 1919 passenger list as well.
(Norway, Michigan is the town where I was born and raised. But Amanda is considerably older than I. I was born in 1932)
And they have a son, Gustav born abt 1917 in Canada.
In the 1920 and 1930 United States Census, the family is living in Itascn County,Minnesota.
But it is not the Robert Albin Roberg that you suggest as a possibility. He has a different wife and children.
The only other piece of information on thaat Aug 11, 1919 passenger list at Sault Ste Marie, Michigan is the port of original entry for Robert. Helifax, February 1911, ship name Tunisian.
Is it possible that February 1911 is his date of emigration from Sweden?

I did some further research.
On her marriage certificate, she lists her father as Ole Olson and mother as Mary Olson.
She marries Erik Albin Eriksson on 16 Nov 1907 in Norway, Michigan, USA.
In her obituary, it states that she comes to Norway, Michigan in 1905, but does not state where she's coming from at that time.
Another unanswered question is , was she previously married? I do not know.
In the 1920 Census of Norway, Michigan it states that Anna E emigrates in 1904 to USA.
Can you find this person, Anna E Dahlberg or Olsdotter?

Today I visited the local Dickinson County Clerks office and looked up the official death record of Seth A Larsson. He died 10 November 1916 in Iron Mountain, Michigan and was 48 years, 10 months, and 9 days old so the date of birth, 1 January 1868 is correct. Previously I was depending on a family written piece of paper, and it was wrong. I should have known better and checked it out myself before even entering the inquiry. But now all is well and we have the correct man.
Please accept my apology for the mistake.

Yes Menominee county is nearby. The city of Menominee is about 70 miles South of us here at Iron Mountain-Kingsford. Menominee is the twin city of Marinette, Wisconsin.
Dickinson County was formed in 1891. Before that most of the Dickinson County was part of Menominee County.
The cities of Iron Mountain, Kingsford, and Norway, Michigan were part of Menominee County prior to 1891.

The Daniel August Danielsson family of Grangärde (W) in the 1880's; most of the men (not all) used their middle names as the common name they were called by.
He used August. A son Johan Henry used Henry. Another son Erik Walfred used Walfred. But the oldest son Karl August used Karl (probably because his father used August). My question is: was this a common practice in Sweden to use their middle name as their commonly called first name?

I am interested in finding the name of the ship they would have traveled on probably to Hull England then across England to Liverpool and then to N America.

I have found that several of my relative families and others emigrated from Grangärde to Norway, Michigan, USA. My ff was the first in our family to emigrate in 1880. My mm Hulda Sjöstrand, her husband August Wall and children emigrated from Vallerstad (E) to USA in 1891. My mother Judith Wall was born here in Norway, Michigan, USA on 19 January 1892.
My mother married Richard Peterson on 19 January 1915 and had 5 children. I am the 4th child and was born 19 April 1932. I have been retired since 30 June 1994. My wife Sally and I live here in Kingsford, Michigan, USA. It is a small town of about 5,000 located on the Wisconsin, Michigan border about 330 miles due North of Chicago, Illinois.

My grandparents on both sides of my family emigrated from Sweden to the USA during the 1880's and 1890's. I prode of my Swedish heritage.
Both sets of my grandparents were poor farmers in Sweden and became iron ore miners and farmers when they came to USA. They were successful in raising several fine children and of course have many fine grandchildren including me.
