Vi var bekymrade över ändringen av födelsedatum. Men det verkar ha varit ett skrivfel när de flyttade.
Det datum som anges i Luleå är det datum som han firade i Amerika.

Hej!
Jag forskar om Frans Hugo Harald Svahn (12/5 1857 Stockholm) som senare blev sjökapten och emigrerade till Amerika.
År 1871 lämnade han hushållet hos sin far (en sjökapten) och jag misstänker att han började sin utbildning för att bli sjökapten. Finns det skolor eller akademier där jag bör leta efter honom?

Hej LinnéaIf the brothers and sisters emigrated before 1865 then it is usually different than after 1865.The first check should be the Lutheran and Covenant Church records because they often provide parish (socken) U.S., Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Swedish American Church Records, 1800-1947 U.S., Evangelical Covenant Church, Swedish American Church Records, 1868-1970These are available on Ancestry or from a search by the Swenson Swedish Immigration Research Center (Rock Island, Illinois) who charge a small fee for their research.Next, find out what destinations in America other emigrants from the same area as your family settled. In the Jamestown, New York area, about 80% of the settlers were from 50km radius of Lönneberga or a 30km radius of Möne, Älvsborgs län. Hjälpa! I am looking for the Kalmar Länsstyrelses passjournal (Passjournaler 1846-1915, journal över uppvista pass 1853-1861) but I have not located it online. SE/VALA/01986/C XI a/3 https://sok.riksarkivet.se/arkiv/upsntSper16xnm3GjpvwY3Is this available online anywhere, or published? I did not locate it in Arkivdigital, etc.Also, I have not found the passjournal for Jönköpings län.

I would suggest that you corroborate this connection with Arkansas. The lack of variation in Swedish names usually requires more details to assure that you have located the correct family. However, Swedes usually were more accurate about their date of birth. Try to see if the family is mentioned in Swedish language American newspapers: https://newspapers3.mnhs.org/jsp/PsBrowse.jspTry to see if the family became members of a Swedish Church, especially Lutherans. Here you will often be able to locate the parish of origin and match birthdates. Ancestry and Arkivdigital.se are both useful. Check the other emigrants from the same parish and the same year. See if they also traveled aboard the same vessel. This is very helpful before 1865 (the end of the US Civil War) but may provide clues or corroboration. www.jamestownswedes.org

Unfortunately, his birth date is not certain and this will make his identification more difficult.
Also, his profession as a sailor always makes identification very difficult. But since he was a sailor for six years he may show up in Sjömanshus records.
There were five (5) Swedes who received the Medal of Honor in the Civil War.

Hej! John P. Erickson was awarded the Medal of Honor (a very big deal in the United States) for bravery during the American Civil War for his actions at Fort Fisher near Wilmington, North Carolina (1865). Erickson was captain of the forecastle (förkastell/back) aboard the side-wheeler U.S.S. PONTOOSUC during the naval battle and lost part of his right arm from an explosion. I am trying to identify his origins to update the records of the US Navy. His hospital record during the Civil War confirms his origin to have been Sweden. He was likely a sailor on merchant vessels in the 1850s. In 1864, when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, he indicated that he had been a sailor for six years. Possibly a sailor from 1851-1857? His arrival in America was listed as 1857 (Svenska amerikanaren, 13 August 1907, p 4), but Erickson also noted that he arrived in 1850 (1900 U.S. Census). He is not located in the Emigranten database and he likely arrived in the United States as a sailor not as a passenger. His obituary lists his birth as 30 June 1826 in Sweden, another source indicates April 1826. This story continues to become more interesting...
It is almost certain that Margaret Catharina Wendbom left Stockholm as a servant for Captain Georges-Alexandre von Dardel and Baroness/Countess Hedvig Sofia Charlotta Amalia Lewenhaupt. They moved with their young children from Sweden to St. Blaise, Neuchâtel, Switzerland in 1814.
I have not been able to locate a listing for passjournal or other record of her emigration from Stockholm. It is possible that the Dardel family had different requirements because of their her title and his foreign birth...

I had seen that her father's bouppteckning noted that she left Sweden in 1813, but it is great to have more details.
My current theory is that she left as a servant/au pair to a diplomat, military attache, merchant or wealthy family who moved to France. This is based on her appearance in 1824 living in Neuchâtel, possibly as a result of having to leave France after the war. However, Neuchâtel is historically connected to Prussia as well.
My understanding is that before 1840, Swedes who left the country required special permission. I am trying to find where those documents would be archived.

An update: Maria C. Bovet, född Margaretha Catharina Wendbom 1 May 1794 in Ulriksdal, Solna parish, Stockholm, daughter of Eric Wendbom (1768-1828) and Anna Catharina Pihlgren (1766- ).
Bouppteckning of her father indicates that she left Sweden in 1813.
She married Pierre Abraham Bovet in Fribourg, Switzerland in 1824 when she was listed as living in Neuchâtel.
I am now trying to locate records for emigration in 1813. I understand that special permission would have been required for her exit. My current theory is that she left Sweden as a servant to the household of a diplomat or Swedish businessman in France who then had to move to Neuchatel with the war....
Any suggestions for source of these records?

I am searching for the origins of a Swedish woman married to Pierre BOVET (f. 1790 Switzerland) and emigrated (from France?) to the USA in 1842.
I do not understand the possible connection, unless her family is military or commercial. I do not understand how a Swedish woman connects with a Swiss man in this time period. My initial reading considered her origin as an error, however, further references have confirmed that she was Swedish and spoke Swedish.
