Markku Wederhorn, The name Wädurhorn means the horns of a ram. Here is a picture of the coat of arms of the noble family Wädurhorn, probably with no known male descendents living long after 1638. (http://aforum.genealogi.se/discus/messages/576/76863.jpg) However the Wädurhorn name has been used also by another family, who later had the noble name Sölfverarm. Here is the coat of arms of that family: (http://aforum.genealogi.se/discus/messages/576/76864.jpg) As you can see the horns of the ram are âEURoeon the helmetâEUR. What is special about this coat of arms is the fact it is the same coat of arms as the one given by the King Karl IX:s to special warriors in the Swedish/Finnish army, both horsemen and soldiers, who were willing to fight in the Swedish army around 1606. Only a few of them are known today.
What do you know about your own line? It is probably only by doing ordinary research you could find if your Wederhorn-name is the same as the name Wädurhorn. But one could ask; Why should the name Wädurhorn be Wederhorn in a land where people know the meaning of the word Wädurhorn?
