Built by Fairfield Shipbuilding & Engineering Company, Glasgow, Scotland, 1893. 12,952 gross tons; 622 (bp) feet long; 65 feet wide. Steam triple expansion engines, twin screw. Service speed 21 knots. 2,000 passengers (600 first class, 400 second class, 1,000 third class).
Built for Cunard Line, British flag, in 1893 and named Lucania. Liverpool-New York service. The largest and the fastest ship afloat 1893-97. Burned out at Liverpool in 1909.[/color]
