I have attempted to reply twice to thank-you for your help, but each time they disappeared into cyber-space. Helene, yes, that is my family you found in the US census. The birthdate you give is the same as on his death certificate. The 1880 Swedish census I was using (Riksarkivet) shows Johannes as Johanna. I've forwarded a request for correction onto them. Numerous questions are still to be answered but, most will remain unanswered. Again, thank-you both very much for aiding me in finding my ancestors.
