Thank-you for your response. My grandfathers name was Nils Sjöberg, birth date is vauge, somewhere between 1857 to 1860. On his 'passport', he listed Växsjöfors (He visited Sverige in 1930). After some searching I found it to be Vägsjöfors in Varmland. I've searched parish records and could not find him. Therefore, I believe he served in the Swedish Navy and went through the surname change prior to his emigrating to the USA in 1889. The letter referenced in my first post, informed him of the death of who I believe was his brother, Johannes. The Letter stated that she received the news from both Landsfiskal (general, not specific), and Gårdsjöberg. Gårdsjöberg appeared in the parish records in 1850, after a family (Nils Sjöberg - my g-grandfather?) visited, stayed about 3 months. Where they came from, moved to, and his occupation I could not read. My fathers Mothers name was Lena Johnsson (Jonsson, Jansson, or another variation) I expect to never find unless Hilda Stenkvist is her sister. Quite a large response for such a short question.
