Hello!
In the Karlstad History book from 1980 it said: Magnus Swenson homesteaded in Section 14 of Arveson Township. Henry Haugen lived on the land after Mr.Swenson. Then Mrs. Nellie Kirby and then Winfred Jacobsons lived there. It now belongs to the Department of Natural Resources. I have got information that Henry Haugen and his wife Hilda Mattison bought Township 159 North and 45 West in Arveson Township in Kittson County 20 th in 1936. Magnus Svensson sold that place to Henry Haugen. According to the 1930 census, Henry Haugen rented and farmed his land in Arveson Township. He was 45 at the time of the census. His wife Hilda was 40. Henry was born in North Dakota and his parents were born in Norway. Hilda was born in Minnesota and her parents were born in Norway. They had 9 children all born in Minnesota:
