His birth parish might be in the church records if he **joined** a Swedish American church. (Many Swedes had baptisms, confirmations, marriages, and funerals in a church but didn't join.) You don't have enough time to order research at the Swenson Center because they have a long waiting time for research, but perhaps you can get an appointment there to do research. They don't have online records.

If they were Lutherans, this is a genealogical guide to researching in Lutheran churches. Swedes used the Augustana Synod, but they might have used a different synod if they lived close enough to a different church.
