I have been trying for some time to track my GGGF Eric Ek born 24 Nov, 1776 in what appears to be S:t Peras Soken on a 1825 household record.(AI:3 Fivelstad -Risberga Rote, page 20). I have tried to locate this parish within the Vadstena Komun which showed some S:T Per socken records. I thought that since I had his birthdate that it should not be difficult to locate him in the Birth Records, however I have not found any births on that date.. Since he was a career soldier (Lifgrenadjar) I suspect that EK was not his birth family's name hence I would not be able to use Household records.
I would greatly appreciate any advice that anybody might have.
Also I was trying to locate his brother Nils Cedarlöf in Skänning in hope of verifying the birthplace. I noted in the 1810-1825 period that I was searching that there appeared to be many more non-patronymic names. Was this area more modern and adopted family names sooner than other parts of the country?
