Sockendal is a place in the parish of Väderstad, close to, but not in Mjölby (though it is now part of Mjölby kommun). Your Axel Albert Dahl was, as you say, born in Sockendal, Väderstad sn (sn = abbr. socken = parish). His father August Dahl was a Korporal, which nowadays is spelled Korpral, almost the same word in English - corporal, and the same thing, i.e. a noncommissioned officer.
I think that you might get a better answer, if you put your query under the heading Väderstad instead. Unfortunately, I don't have the church records that are needed, to get more information about his parents.
