The oldest person by the surname of Kruse is Daniel Jonsson Kruse, who for some time was a book-keeper in Sunnemo parish. He died 1724 in Filipstad, neither his age or his date of death is recorded.
He seems to be the first one of the Kruse family to use that surname, and all the younger ones by this name are supposed to be descended from him.
In this case Kruse is not a soldier's name, as this area around Filipstad was exempted from having to enlist soldiers, dut to the fact that people there mostly worked in the mining industry, which was vital to the economy of Sweden.
