Louis Sands, Myth or reality?
This is what I have learned from people in Manistee: Born in Albro, Sodermanland County in July 6,1826. At the age of 27 he emigrated to USA. He landed in Boston, via Chicago he came to Manistee, Michigan the same year. Mr Sands had two marriages. The first 1857 with Miss Caroline Richards who died 1863 leaving him one son. The second 1865 with Miss Isabella Marchal with whom he had one son and four daughters. Mr Sands was a very successful businessman who at the end of 1800 owned several saw mills, salt wells, shingle mills, cargo ships and a huge electric plant supplying all electricity to Manistee. Mr Sands total worth at that time was estimated to be more than 6 MUSD. I am told that his Swedish name could have been Lars Larson. Any information is appreciated. Reply in Swedish is OK!
