Maria Månsdotter, Born 1718 [sic]; Daughter Anika, Born 1769; Daughter Catharina, Born 1773 [sic]; & son Petter, Born 1776 [sic]”.  Sweden was at war with Russia from June 1788 until Aug. 1790 in what is known as 'King Gustav III's Russian War', & it appears that he died fighting in that war.  Desiring to regain territory lost in previous wars, Sweden entered into an alliance with Turkey on 21 June 1788 & attacked Russia, whose main forces were engaged elsewhere in the Russo-Turkish war of 1787-91.  However, the war was unpopular in Sweden & disturbances began in the army.  The war on land was inconclusive & in the period 1789-90 combat only took place at sea.  The Kalmar Regiment served the entire war with the Navy; fighting in the indecisive naval battles of Högland, 17 July 1788 & of Öland, 26 July 1789.  The Kalmar Regiment may have also served at the naval First Battle of Svensksund on 24 Aug. 1789 - in which the Swedes were defeated by the Russians & lost 20 ships & 1500 men killed, wounded or captured.  The war ended inconclusively in 1790.  In the 'General Muster Roll' for the Kalmar Regiment taken on 17 June 1793 it was recorded as follows - “Major's Company.Rote Number 318, Rote Name - Emhult, Sven Nilsson Emberg död under sjö expedition [Died during sea expedition] 28 Oct. 1789”.  Died 28 Oct. 1789 - as recorded in the 'General Muster Roll' for the Kalmar Regiment taken on 17 June 1793.
