The south-west part of Vena parish (Hulingsryd, Hultåsa, Järnudda, Kalvkätte, Kloster, Lönnekulla), called Vena skate (skate means 'outgrowth', i.e. - in this case - a separate part of the parish) belonged in fiscal and judicial respects to Målilla jordebokssocken ('fiscal parish') in Aspeland, but in ecclesiastical respects to Vena kyrksocken ('church parish') in Sevede. From 1886, the whole parish belonged to Sevede in all respects. The phenomenon of skatar is from today's point of view quite strange, but its existence goes back to the early medieval period, when boundaries between the administrative districts were less than distinct. In this area, there are also a Hässleby skate (in Lönneberga parish in Aspeland and Kalmar län), fiscally and judicially belonging to Hässleby in Södra Vedbo and Jönköpings län, and a Karlstorps skate (in Karlstorps parish in Östra härad and Jönköpings län), fiscally and judicially belonging to Lönneberga in Aspeland and Kalmar län. You could write books about this.
