It now makes me believe that my great-uncle Albin Julius Gottfrid Larsson (Lind) jumped ship in Stockholm since he was a sailor. I know for a fact that he changed his last name to Lind, most likely when he registered at the Göta artillery regiment in 1897. His brother Emil who emigrated in 1904 and his sister Selma (my grandmother) who emigrated in 1906, both changed their last names to Lind after arriving in Canada. This makes me think that Albin had to have been here from about 1903 and on, since no more information can be found about him after he left the Seaman's house in Stockholm after 1902.

Selma was married in Winnipeg, Canada under the last name of Lind in 1909 and I have a copy of her marriage certificate showing this. Emil was married under the name Lind and used the last name of Lind his whole life. His two children also had the last name of Lind.
