My great grandfather was Severin Carlsson, born 25 Oct 1854 Sköllungen, Brastad. His birth record shows his mother's name (Gustafwa Svensdotter), but not his father. Witnesses listed in the birth record were John Jacob Andreasson & Anna Christina Nilsdotter from Sköllungen.
In Oct 1857, Gustafwa married Carl Nilsson (f. 25 Feb 1836 in Sköllungen). Severin took the surname Carlsson, but I don't know if Carl was his birth father or his step-father. Is there is any record that would answer this question? One interesting fact is that Anna Christina Nilsdotter (witness in Severin's birth record) was Carl Nilsson's sister.
What about the records filed after Carl Nilsson's death? Would they show anything? Carl died 8 Nov 1904 at Sköllungen.
