Hi Kim,
I have a book called På upptäcktsresa i gamla timmerväggar, by Arvid Jonas, printed in 1968 in Tranås, which is all about the Asproth family of Tranås-Säby (Säby is the old parish, Tranås is the main center of the parish, which has become more important than the parish).
Anyway, this book is about the staff sergeant Daniel Asproth and his wife Hedvig Rosenqvist and their 9 boys, of which the youngest was called Sven Jakob Frithiof, born 1859 Feb.20, and who died in the US.
To support his income Daniel acted as an emigrant agent during the 1860s and 1870s and sold tickets to prospective emigrants. The archive from his business was used as filling in the floors of a building in Tranås, and discovered by this man Arvid Jonas.
Concerning Frithiof the author did know that he emigrated in 1880, and settled in Rockford, IL, and had four sons and one daughter, all in Rockford. There is also a picture of him in the book.
