Hej!
My swedish is not sufficent enough for me to be able to write this other then in english. I am trying to determine the correct name for a woman born in Nydala. She emigrated to Amerika in 1886 and was listed as residing in Möcklehult östra when she left Sweden. These are her particulars.
Emma Charlotta Last name 1=Mandusdotter Last name 2=Nilsdotter
b.1870-08-27 (illegtimate daughter)
I'm confused as to what these names mean. I understand that people would change their names when leaving sweden, my interest is in her birth name. Was Mandus her father? Or was Nils? Or was her father Mandus Nilsson? And her mother? Unfortunately to these parrish books are not available on JBGF. I would appreciate any help that someone could give me to resolve this. TSM
