Hi David, here is proof that you have the wrong Olaf Olson in the 1870 and 1880 censuses. As you already know, this is your ancestor in the 1900 census:

Olof was the son of Ola Nilsson and Karna Jönsdotter. Ola Nilsson died 4 Aug 1895 in Mjällby and in his Bouppteckning (estate inventory: Listers häradsrätt FII:42 (1894-1895) Bild 5350 / sid 533) it was stated that his son Olof was in Morison, Ill., Nord Amerika. Incidentally, Olof had a brother Per born 2 Mar 1873 and a sister Bengta born 18 Aug 1865 who both were living in Morrison in 1895 according to the Bouppteckning. Bengta was married to A. B. Anderson.
