Hi David, about your earlier question of whether Bengta might have used the name Bessie in the US: if you Google Bengta Bessie you'll see that it was not uncommon for women named Bengta to have used Bessie after emigrating. Sometimes women named Bengta also used Betty or Betsy. Per the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index (http://www.ilsos.gov/isavital/marriagesrch.jsp) here is their marriage record.

According to his 1935 death record, Ben was born 9 Apr 1857 in Sölvesborg. But he was probably born in Mjällby according to this Emibas CD record.

There is an 1880 census record that might be him: Benjamin Anderson born about 1856 in Sweden living in Mount Pleasant, Whiteside County, Illinois.
This is Bengta/Bessie's date of death from a transcription of gravestones at Grove Hill Cemetery, Whiteside County (http://genealogytrails.com/ill/whiteside/cemgrovehilla.html).
