81 years and 6 months :) Homestead was the translation given by Google for 'hemman'. The word 'hemman' comes from home/residence, a defined place, where people were living, given a 'mantal'. The concept goes back, at least, to the 1500's
I am a bit out on thin ice here, but I would say that there is a difference between Hemmansbrukare and Hemmansägare (homestead owner)
