I have a question about a property (Hylte in Odensjö) where, on the tax records, the taxpayers are Nils and Knut for several years, followed by Nils and his wife Elin for 2 years, and then it is back under Nils and Knut again for many more years.
My question is regarding how the taxes are recorded - does this imply 2 different men are running the farm? All of the birth records for Nils and Elin show that all of their children were born at Hylte during the time when the farm is listed under Nils and Knut.
This is confusing to me. If his wife was living there as indicated by the children's birth records, wouldn't tax have been paid for her?
Trying to understand what I'm seeing here so any help would be much appreciated,
