Hi Georgina, I was pretty sure it meant that he was born in Brandstad - it is written "Brstd" in the record. And there he is on page 98 i birth record for the years 1861-1894 with reference to page 71, just the same. Date 1881-08-02. I see that the new wife, widow Elna, has several children and some of them are also emigrating at the same time 1882-06-01.
