Hej! I am trying to determine the correct identification of the wife of Hans Hollander. Was she Christina Bäcklin, daughter of Anna Greta Wox?n? Anna Greta was born 31 Oct 1806 in Voxna, and emigrated from Alfta in 1846 along with her children. Her husband Pehr Bäcklin stayed in Sweden. See Swedish Passenger Arrivals in the U.S., 1820-1850 by Olsson and Wik?n, individuals 1846-1851. They state that Anna Greta's youngest daughter, Christina Bäcklin, born 20 June 1845 in Alfta, married Hans Hollander in 1872 in Henry County, Illinois.
This information is not consistent with the obituary in the 20 June 1895 Galva News which states Mrs. Christine Becklean, age 78, an old resident of Bishop Hill, died June 19th at the the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. M. Hollander, in Kewanee. She was born in Bollnäs 16 April 1818. In 1845 she married Jonas Becklean and they came to America in 1867. He died in 1881. Two daughter survive, Mrs. Christine Hollander and Miss Annie Becklean of Galva.
Could someone check the Bollnäs records to see if the information from the obituary is correct? If it is, then the information about Christina Bäcklin from Alfta as the wife to Hans Hollander is probably incorrect. Any help is greatly appreciated.
