When Kjerstin Jacobsdotter first appears on page 127 in Västången under Lilla Skår she is called backsittare or backstugusittare, i.e. somebody who lived in a hut on somebody else’s property or on the commons. She is also a fattighjon, an acknowledged pauper, and probably received some support from the parish. In ‘52 she and her daughters are transferred to the section socknens slut, Kjerstin and her two youngest daughters, who were both too young to be required to seek employment, to the section for poor people, and Oleana, who was of age and already had served as a farmer’s maid for Olof Larsson in Lilla Lögås (see page 90), to the section for lösa personer. In ’54 they moved to another backstuga Intaget under Lilla Skår. Oleana moved to Fossen “in Dk” (the neighbouring parish Dragsmark) in ’54. She can be found in Dragsmark AI:2 on page 8 of the section for 1852 - 1856 (image 198), but left for an unspecified place in '55 (ovisst 55). She returned to Intaget with her daughter Johanna Maria Andersdotter, asked for absolution on Jan. 29 and was absolved on June 3, ’56. She is noted as försvarlös, i.e. without lawful employment.
